Coldplay Sets New Album ‘Moon Music’
Coldplay announced the release date for their 10th studio album on Monday morning (June 17). Produced by Max Martin, Moon Music will arrive Oct. 4, and is led-off by LP’s initially single, “feelslikeimfallinginlove,” which, as previously reported, drops this Friday (June 21).
Chris Martin and the band gave fans a taste of factors to come at Budapest’s Puskás Aréna on Sunday evening (June 16), exactly where they performed the new song in complete. Earlier, the group shared a snippet of the euphoric new quantity on their socials, along with artwork that options the face of a waning planet with a colorful corona erupting from its surface.
On it, Martin sings: “It feels like I’m falling in love/ You’re throwing me a lifeline/ Oh, not for the first time/ I know I’m not alone.”
In line with the foursome’s lengthy-standing eco-ethics, Coldplay has “gone to great lengths” to make the physical release of Moon Music “as sustainable as possible,” according to a statement.
Each 140g LP will include some nine recycled PET-plastic bottles recovered from post-customer waste, and the CD version are stated be the “world’s first” to be released on EcoCD, produced from 90% recycled polycarbonate, also sourced from post-customer waste.
The initially edition of Moon Music (EcoRecord rPET LP and EcoCD) will be out there in restricted-edition, individually-numbered runs and created at a “higher specification” than future cuts, reads a statement.
Moon Music is a continuation to Coldplay’s most current release, the Max Martin-created 2021 work Music Of The Spheres, which opened at No. 1 in the U.K. and Australia, and No. 4 on the Billboard 200. The single “My Universe” with BTS hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Martin has been teasing the new record for 18 months, at least. Back in January of 2023, he told the Toronto City News that the band was nearing completion of what he then promised was the second LP in the Music of the Spheres series. He remarked “that won’t come out for a bit,” although he teased that the band “might” begin rolling out some of the new songs reside that year.
Coldplay’s present worldwide trek is in assistance of Spheres, kicking off on March 18, 2022 in Costa Rica. The years-lengthy tour is at the moment slated to wrap up with the second of two shows in Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand on Nov. 16.
