The acclaimed star of Dead to Me, Christina Applegate, is opening up about her challenging health journey, specifically concerning her battle with multiple sclerosis (MS). She has bravely shared her personal experiences, shedding light on the often invisible struggles many face with chronic illnesses.
During a recent episode of her podcast, MeSsy, co-hosted by fellow MS warrior Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Christina, aged 52, described the harrowing reality of living with this condition. “Everybody has different ways of it showing up,” she expressed on the Nov. 5 episode. “I lay in bed screaming. Like, the sharp pains, the ache, the squeezing.” Her candid revelations reveal the burdensome nature of her symptoms and the emotional toll they take on her daily life.
In addition to the overwhelming pain she experiences, Christina, who was diagnosed in 2021, disclosed that she now faces new symptoms that affect her daily activities. “I can’t even pick up my phone sometimes,” she continued, illustrating how the disease has progressed. “It’s traveled into my hands, so I’ll try to go get my phone or get my remote to turn on the TV or whatever, and sometimes I can’t even hold them.” This highlights the unpredictable nature of MS and its impact on her ability to perform even simple tasks.
