Next Bond: Daniel Craig’s Unexpected Take on the Future

Daniel Craig’s Perspective on the Future of James Bond is refreshingly candid, as he shows no interest in speculating about who might take over the iconic role next.

Since the Knives Out actor bid farewell to the legendary spy character in 2021 after an impressive five films, the question of who will don the tuxedo next as the eighth actor to embody James Bond continues to spark conversations among fans and industry insiders alike.

However, audiences shouldn’t anticipate Craig’s input on the matter. During a recent Q&A session with his Queer co-star Drew Starkey, when directly asked about his thoughts on the next actor for the role, Daniel chuckled and stated to Variety with a smile, “I don’t care.” His lighthearted response reflects a clear desire to move on from the franchise.

In an amusing moment, Daniel struggled to recall the exact number of James Bond films he had starred in. When Drew jokingly suggested, “too many,” Daniel nodded in agreement.

“I don’t know either,” Daniel responded with a laugh. “I’d have to count. One, two, three… five? Five.” His playful acknowledgment of the films he has been part of adds a humorous touch to the conversation.

Daniel officially stepped away from the Bond franchise in 2021, following the release of No Time to Die. He initially took on the role of the suave spy in 2006’s Casino Royale, which was adapted from a novel by Ian Fleming. His tenure continued with Quantum of Solace in 2008, followed by the critically acclaimed Skyfall in 2012 and the intense Spectre.
