Paul Di’Anno Laid to Rest in London by Iron Maiden Fans
Today, the legendary frontman of Iron Maiden, Paul Di’Anno, was laid to rest in London, a poignant moment marked by an emotional farewell from his devoted manager. Stjepan Juras, who has been by Di’Anno’s side throughout his career, expressed his sentiments with a heartfelt toast, stating, “Let’s raise a glass for the last time for Paul Di’Anno.” The family approved a touching image of his casket adorned with crosses, which symbolizes both his legacy and the impact he had on many. Paul Di’Anno passed away on October 21, leaving behind a rich history in the world of heavy metal.
Stjepan Juras revealed the details surrounding Di’Anno’s passing, confirming what his sisters had shared. “He had a tear in the sac around the heart, and blood filled inside it from the main aorta artery,” Juras explained. “This condition ultimately led to his heart stopping.” Such revelations highlight the vulnerability of life, even for rock legends. The news of his death resonates deeply with fans and the music community alike, serving as a reminder of the fragility of health and the importance of cherishing each moment.

Born as Paul Andrews, he adopted the iconic stage name Di’Anno when he joined Iron Maiden as the replacement for the briefly tenured singer, Dennis Wilcock, back in 1977. The band’s self-titled debut album hit the shelves in 1980, featuring unforgettable tracks such as “Phantom of the Opera,” “Running Free,” and the title track. These songs not only became staples in their live performances but also showcased Di’Anno’s unique vocal style. His second collaboration with the band, the 1981 album Killers, unveiled the epic songwriting approach that would later become the hallmark of Iron Maiden‘s enduring legacy.
However, by September of that year, Di’Anno had performed his final concert with Iron Maiden. A recent retrospective titled The Book of the Beast, which was released earlier this year, chronicles his solo career and the various paths he explored after leaving the band. Additionally, a documentary focused on Di’Anno’s life and contributions to heavy metal is reportedly in development, helmed by producer Wes Orshoski, known for his work on the 2010 film Lemmy, which celebrated the life of Motorhead’s iconic frontman.
