BBC Radio 6 Music Festival Returns to Manchester March 2025
The highly anticipated BBC Radio 6 Music Festival is set to make its vibrant return next spring, having established a permanent venue in the culturally rich area of Greater Manchester.
Mark your calendars for March 26-29, 2025, as this four-day festival promises an eclectic mix of live performances and dynamic DJ sets hosted at various venues throughout the region. The exciting announcement was made live on air this morning (Dec. 3) by popular broadcaster Nick Grimshaw, who is currently stepping in for regular breakfast show host Lauren Laverne, who is on recovery leave after cancer treatment. Fans can anticipate Laverne’s return to the show in the upcoming new year, bringing back her unique flair.
During the festival, the talented 6 Music team will be broadcasting live from MediaCity U.K. in Salford. Some of the current presenters who will contribute to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere include Iggy Pop, Huw Stephens, Mary Anne Hobbs, and the former London night czar, Amy Lamé, all of whom are known for their deep connections to the music scene.
The 6 Music Festival stands as the flagship event for the station, reaching audiences through a multitude of BBC radio, television, and online platforms. Since its relocation to Greater Manchester in 2023, the festival has evolved, previously being held in various vibrant cities across the U.K. such as Cardiff, London, Glasgow, Liverpool, and Newcastle. This festival not only highlights established artists but also showcases emerging talent from around the UK music scene, making it a must-see event.
In an exciting press release, Samantha Moy, the Head of BBC Radio 6 Music, expressed her pride in the festival’s ability to offer listeners truly unique performances from beloved artists. She emphasized that the festival also serves as a platform to celebrate the remarkable acts emerging from Greater Manchester. “The atmosphere is electric, and we are eagerly anticipating bringing the whole station back to Manchester for four unforgettable days of incredible live music,” she stated, highlighting the festival’s cultural significance.
The much-anticipated line-up for the 2025 edition of the 6 Music Festival is scheduled to be revealed in February. Last year, festival-goers enjoyed performances from renowned headliners such as Young Fathers, Gossip, and The Smile, alongside rising stars like CMAT and Hak Baker. Each festival promises a blend of established and emerging artists, catering to diverse musical tastes and ensuring a magical experience for attendees.
Launched in January 2014, the BBC 6 Music Festival kicked off in Manchester featuring headliner Damon Albarn. Since then, it has grown into a prestigious event showcasing performances from world-renowned artists including Depeche Mode, Fontaines D.C., Father John Misty, and Neneh Cherry, among others. With each passing year, the festival has solidified its status as a cornerstone of the UK’s music festival landscape.
