On Instagram, the seasoned politician released an extensive statement addressing the election results and their implications.
“It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working-class individuals would find that the working class has abandoned them. Initially, it was the white working class, and now we are witnessing similar trends among Latino and Black workers as well. While Democratic leadership continues to uphold the status quo, the American populace is frustrated and demands change. Their frustration is valid,” he emphasized.
Bernie further elaborated: “Today, as the wealthiest individuals enjoy unprecedented prosperity, an alarming 60% of Americans struggle to make ends meet, living paycheck to paycheck. We are experiencing greater income and wealth inequality than ever before. Shockingly, when adjusted for inflation, the real weekly wages of the average American worker are now lower than they were five decades ago.”
“Moreover, despite remarkable advancements in technology and productivity, many young adults face the grim reality of potentially lower living standards than their parents. There is growing concern that advancements in Artificial Intelligence and robotics will exacerbate an already dire situation,” he added.
“Additionally, despite spending significantly more per capita on healthcare than other developed nations, we remain the only affluent country failing to guarantee healthcare as a human right. Furthermore, we pay the highest prices globally for prescription medications. Unlike other major nations, we cannot even ensure paid family and medical leave for our citizens,” he pointed out.
“Furthermore, in stark contrast to the strong opposition from a majority of Americans, we continue to allocate billions towards financing the extremist government of Netanyahu, which has resulted in a devastating humanitarian crisis, including widespread malnutrition and the starvation of thousands of children among the Palestinian people,” he stated.
“Will the affluent interests and well-compensated consultants who dominate the Democratic Party glean any genuine insights from this disastrous campaign? Will they recognize the pain and political disillusionment that countless Americans are enduring? Do they possess any viable strategies to confront the increasingly influential Oligarchy wielding substantial economic and political power? It seems unlikely,” he questioned.
Bernie concluded his statement by urging, “In the forthcoming weeks and months, those of us passionate about grassroots democracy and economic justice must engage in serious political discussions. Stay tuned for more updates.”
President Joe Biden also weighed in on Kamala‘s electoral defeat, reflecting on the implications for the Democratic Party moving forward.
