Daisy Link and Joan Depaz were both held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County. In an interview with WVSN, they shared the astonishing details of how they managed to conceive a child without any physical interaction. According to Law & Crime, the two women allegedly communicated through air conditioning vents in their cells. Link referred to their child as “a miracle baby,” while Depaz likened their conception to the story of “the Virgin Mary,” emphasizing the extraordinary nature of their bond.

Link elaborated on how they formed a deep connection through countless conversations, spending hours talking and sharing their lives, which created a sense of intimacy despite their physical separation.

“Being in isolation for so long, you begin to spend hours and hours talking to this person, you know, to the point where it’s almost as if you’re in the same room with them,” Link expressed, highlighting the emotional closeness they achieved in isolation.

Depaz recalled expressing a desire to have a baby, a wish complicated by her ongoing first-degree murder charge, as reported by Law & Crime. They then devised a plan to realize their dream of parenthood.

“I always really wanted to have a baby. And I’m not gonna get to do that for a really long time. So if I had to choose somebody, you know, it would be you,” Depaz shared, illustrating her commitment to making their unconventional plan work.

Daisy Link detailed the unique method of her conception, which involved the prison’s vent system. They discovered that objects dropped from her vent could reach Depaz’s vent. Depaz allegedly took great care in preparing his reproductive fluid, wrapping it in Saran wrap multiple times each day for a month. Link then used yeast infection applicators to insert the fluid into her body.

“He would kind of roll it up almost like a cigarette, and he would attach it to the line that we had in the vent, and I would pull it through,” Link explained, providing insight into their resourceful and inventive approach.

After several attempts, Daisy Link became pregnant. Their daughter was born on June 19 and is currently five months old, living with Joan Depaz’s mother. In her interview with WSVN, Daisy expressed her astonishment that their unconventional plan succeeded and shared her aspirations for their child’s future.

“I can’t believe it worked. I think everything happened for a reason. She could be anything. I think that she’s gonna be something great,” Link said, filled with hope and dreams for their daughter.
