Diddy Allegedly Threatened To Cut J. Cole’s Throat During Fight
Diddy allegedly threatened to slash J. Cole‘s throat when the two got into a fight over a decade ago over Kendrick Lamar‘s “Control” verse.
Appearing on Tank and J. Valentine‘s R&B Money podcast, Top Dawg Entertainment president Terrence “Punch” Henderson shared his recollection of the scuffle, which took place at an afterparty in NYC following the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.
Without naming names, Punch detailed the story of Cole and Diddy getting into it at the exclusive party in front of a who’s who of well-known musicians and film stars.
“The homie just did this song, right? Pissed a gang of people off, everybody was mad at it,” Punch started. “When the song came out, he was overseas, then he came back to the States.
“First place we stopped in was New York City and the first thing we do is say, ‘Let’s go to the club’ because we want to check the temperature, see what everybody was on — L.A. stuff.”
Punch continued: “We get to the club. One of the homies approached us and [was] talking about this particular record. So we’re going back and forth: ‘Oh, it’s not personal. It’s just this, this and that. It’s cool, whatever, whatever.’
“Another one of the homies walk up, he looked drunk [and] said, ‘Yeah, y’all n-ggas need to go back and forth and keep it on wax or whatever.’ So the two dudes who approached [us], they get into a little back and forth, a little argument with each other now. What we didn’t know is they had got into an argument before we got there.”
The TDE government defined that he and his crew then went to the VIP part of the membership which was full of celebrities, describing it as “literally the front row of the Grammys.”
“The homie that got into it with the other one, he’s sitting two steps down from me on the couch. Then they came back to him, the ones who got into an alteration earlier,” he continued, referring to J. Cole and Diddy.
“He was like, ‘If you ever say what you said to me earlier, n-gga, I’ll –.’ And he grabbed a bottle from the table and he said, ‘What you gon’ do? Hit me on my head with a bottle?’ He was like, ‘Nah, I’m gonna break it on the table and I’m gonna cut your throat.’
“It was getting tense. So the n-gga standing on the ground reached up and tried to grab dude by the neck. So dude reached around and fired on him and they both fell on the table, knocking all the drinks over. It’s a scuffle now, a huge scuffle.”
Punch then stated that another person jumped into the struggle and commenced unknowingly beating up an artist who was signed to their pal’s label.
“Another n-gga came who’s best friends with one of the super celebrities that was over there. He came and started beating up one of the n-ggas that was on the ground,” he recalled.
“He grabbed the n-gga and pulled him close and seen who it was, and this dude was signed to his homie. But he couldn’t see, he didn’t have his glasses on. He felt so bad after the whole thing … He thought they was going at his mans.”
Punch beforehand spoke concerning the brawl on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion, albeit with names.
“[JAY-Z] and Puff is doing the dinner that they usually do,” he stated. “Puff and Cole was talking about the verse and they ended up getting into a little back and forth. When we come in, Cole and Kendrick was talking about the verse.
“Then Puff came back over and their argument sparked up again. So from there, they ended up getting into the whole scuffle in the club.”
The TDE president then described JAY-Z’s shut pal Emory Jones because the “winner” of the struggle: “Emory thought somebody was jumping on Jay so he rushed over there and he got into the middle of the thing. He ended up grabbing Cole like, ‘Oh, it’s Cole!’”
