Elliott Wilson Addresses Claim He Snitched On Drake To Kendrick
Elliott Wilson has cleared up the suggestion that he leaked facts about Drake to Kendrick Lamar in the current feud involving the Hip Hop heavyweights.
The veteran journalist (who serves as HipHopDX‘s Editorial Director of Hip Hop journalism) revealed during a recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast that Drizzy had sent him a rat emoji prior to the release of “Family Matters,” insinuating that Wilson was a snitch.
On the latest episode of DX‘s The Bigger Picture series, Elliott Wilson addressed the drama in more detail and shut down the narrative that he had betrayed the 6 God’s trust throughout his higher-profile beef with K. Dot.
“That morning, we got ‘6:16 in LA‘ to set the day, which we didn’t see coming. Amazing record,” he started. “There was a lot of industry rumors that Drake was gonna respond that night. It wasn’t some big secret.”
He continued: “We had our falling out with the Bobbi [Althoff] thing when I criticized that, but we had gotten kinda cool more behind the scenes and him supporting my social media feeds and that type of shit. I hit him like, ‘Yo, you dropping a joint tonight?’ I’m just sniffing around.
“He’s like, ‘Yeah, something, lol.’ And I saw the things where he was kinda letting Akademiks know something’s coming, ‘Get it in your stream.’ Letting Kai [Cenat] know something’s comming, ‘Get it in your stream.’ Letting Mal know something’s coming. Drake has media relationships and at times, he’s giving us information to help present to the world.”
“So he teases [a response track], and then out of nowhere, he sent me a rat emoji!” he added. “I’ve never had a grown man ever send me a disrespectful emoji of any sort. I’m a grown ass man. I’m fuming.”
Wilson mentioned he replied by sending Drake a meme of 50 Cent asking in disbelief: “What he say ‘fuck me’ for?” but the rap star in no way responded.
“I felt that he thought I was against him and I had chosen a side and I couldn’t be trusted anymore,” the Rap Radar Podcast host explained, just before pushing back against the notion that he’s a “rat.”
“What would I rat about? Imagine if you said that everything Kendrick knows [is] ’cause Elliott Wilson is telling him that? Kendrick would laugh all day. I’m cool with Kendrick, but we’re not cool like that to even have that level of personal rapport.
“And then, like, what am I telling him? [Drake’s] gonna drop a battle record against you? Yes, n-gga, you’re in a battle! What am I telling you? What is the information I’m telling you?”
Wilson concluded by saying that immediately after sending him a rat emoji, Drake ceased make contact with with him and blocked him on Instagram.

Elliott Wilson also not too long ago revealed that he received a threatening telephone get in touch with from “OGs” in Toronto immediately after he declared Kendrick Lamar the winner of the beef.
“At the end of the day, Kendrick clearly won,” he mentioned on an earlier episode of The Bigger Picture. “I got the calls from OGs. You know, I’m not really welcome in Toronto right now […] I grew up in New York City — you know you don’t go through other people’s project, right?
“I would not go to Toronto if me and Drake weren’t good, so that obviously makes sense. So yeah, I just think it’s a tough time.”
