Final 5-Word Diary Entry of Queen Elizabeth II Uncovered
King Charles Explains Queen Elizabeth’s Decision to Spend Her Last Days in Scotland
Queen Elizabeth II demonstrated remarkable focus and clarity in the moments leading up to her passing.
According to royal biographer Robert Hardman, who uncovered her final diary entry while researching the life of her successor, King Charles III, the late monarch, who peacefully passed away in 2022 at the age of 96, was straightforward in her reflections. Hardman’s revelations, found in his updated biography Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story., reported in The Telegraph, highlight that she continued writing until just two days before her death at Balmoral.
Her last diary entry maintained a practical and factual tone, consistent with her usual style. Rather than expressing personal emotions, Queen Elizabeth noted simply: “‘Edward came to see me,'” as Hardman recounted, referencing her private secretary Sir Edward Young.
It is believed that Young was assisting Queen Elizabeth in preparing to swear in the newly elected U.K. Prime Minister Liz Truss and her council members, illustrating her commitment to her royal duties even in her final days, as noted by Hardman.
