Juno Temple Reflects on Her Experience with Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland Casting

In a candid dialog with Miles Teller for Interview, Juno Temple, the gifted actress from Venom: The Last Dance, shared her emotions about being turned down for the long-lasting position of Alice within the 2010 movie directed by Tim Burton. The now 35-year-old actress recalled the second with deep emotion, expressing how “devastated” she felt when she discovered she wouldn’t be enjoying the beloved character. After seeing Mia painting Alice on display, Juno gained readability about her personal suitability for the position. “Watching the movie was a crucial moment for me at just 17 years old — I realized I wasn’t right for Alice,” Juno confessed. “I see myself more as the Queen of Hearts. Once you view the final product, it becomes clear why you weren’t the right fit for that role at that specific time in your life. I’ve tried out for a few Disney remakes, but let’s be honest — I’m just not Cinderella.”

Furthermore, Juno shared that when she feels a job isn’t a very good match for her throughout auditions, she has no qualms about suggesting one other actor. “I think, ‘Maybe I’m not the best choice for this role, but I know someone who would be perfect. You should meet this fantastic actor,’” Juno defined candidly. “People often say that being competitive in this industry is crucial. While there is some truth to that, I also believe that fostering a supportive environment is equally important.”

She additional elaborated, “As actors, we are a collection of unique individuals with distinct preferences and aversions. I respect that immensely. As you mentioned, film is a lasting medium. It’s vital that we remain authentic and true to ourselves.”
