Kieran Culkin’s Kids Won’t Watch Brother’s Home Alone Films
There’s a well-known holiday tradition that has yet to grace the home of Kieran Culkin. This beloved classic film is Home Alone, a staple of the Christmas season.
The Succession star, who is a devoted father to his daughter Kinsey, 5, and son Wilder, 3, with his wife Jazz Charton, recently shared his reservations about letting his children watch this iconic film, which features their uncle Macaulay Culkin in his breakthrough performance. Kieran expressed concerns about the film’s content, particularly the elements that might be too intense for young viewers.
“There are still some frightening moments,” Kieran explained in an interview with E! News on December 2 at The Gothams 34th Annual Film Awards held in New York City. He mentioned specific scenes, such as the one involving a tarantula and the menacing character who ominously threatens, ‘I’m gonna bite off all your fingers.’ These moments can be quite alarming for a 3-year-old, and Kieran is understandably cautious about exposing his children to such scenes. Despite his hesitations, the actor believes there’s a definitive way to determine if his children are ready for this holiday classic.
“We think they might be ready for Home Alone this year,” he noted. “If not, we’ll definitely consider it for next year.” The anticipation of sharing this cherished film with his kids adds a layer of excitement to the holiday season.
While Home Alone brings back fond memories and nostalgia for many viewers, Kieran has previously reflected on how the film’s immense popularity catapulted his brother into stardom overnight—a level of fame he admits he did not envy.
