My Chemical Romance Statement on Bob Bryar’s Death
My Chemical Romance has publicly expressed their sorrow over the tragic passing of their former drummer, Bob Bryar.
The musician, who was only 44 years old, was discovered deceased in his home located in Tennessee on November 27. Currently, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of his death. Bob was last seen alive on November 4, and at this time, authorities have indicated that there is no suspicion of foul play involved.
On November 30, Rolling Stone received a heartfelt message from a representative of My Chemical Romance, which stated, “The band asks for your patience and understanding as they process the news of Bob’s passing.” This reflects the band’s deep connection and the emotional impact of this loss on their lives.
However, the band has since taken to social media to share a more detailed tribute to Bryar. Below is their heartfelt message:
It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Bob Bryar, our former bandmate and an important part of the history of My Chemical Romance.
We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this time.
May he rest in peace.
Bob Bryar was an integral member of My Chemical Romance from 2004 until 2010, contributing significantly to their iconic 2006 album, The Black Parade. His influence extended beyond drumming; he also received songwriting credits on the band’s 2010 album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, even though he departed from the group prior to its release, highlighting his lasting impact on the band’s legacy.

In early 2010, Frank Iero officially announced Bryar’s departure from My Chemical Romance. He shared in a post on the band’s website, “As of 4 weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors and expect you all to do the same.” This statement underscores the emotional weight of their decision and the respect they hold for Bryar’s contributions.
Despite leaving the band, the talented drummer continued his journey in the music industry, actively working until 2014, showcasing his dedication and passion for music.
