RHONJ Star Opposes Recasting for the Show
Dolores Catania has captured the hearts of viewers as a standout housewife on The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Throughout the majority of Season 14, she emerged as one of the few cast members willing to engage and film alongside every other housewife, facilitating crucial conversations amidst the turmoil. The cast found itself deeply divided following the ongoing feud between Teresa Giudice and Melissa Gorga, which led to their refusal to film together. With this backdrop, Catania is now openly discussing the uncertainties surrounding the future of the show and whether all cast members will return for the anticipated Season 15 of this beloved Bravo series.
After a tumultuous Season 14, audiences speculated that The Real Housewives of New Jersey might undergo significant changes similar to the complete cast overhaul seen in The Real Housewives of New York City. That particular flagship series successfully reengaged fans with a fresh lineup for Season 15. Currently, Catania expressed that she has yet to receive any information about potential changes to the cast. During a conversation with The Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge on her podcast, Two Ts in a Pod, alongside former The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Teddi Mellencamp, Catania clarified that, as of now, no definitive plans or updates have been communicated regarding the casting situation.
At this point, Catania revealed that she has heard “not one word” about which cast members might return for Season 15, according to a report from People. She expressed her desire to see the entire cast return, stating, “I don’t like change.” This sentiment stands in stark contrast to recent comments made by Jennifer Aydin, who suggested her own uncertain status within the cast—a claim that Andy Cohen later had to refute, highlighting the ongoing speculation regarding the show’s dynamics.
Dolores Catania Voices Concerns About Cast Stability
Considering the dramatic events that unfolded in Season 14, it comes as no surprise that the network may seek a shift in the show’s direction. Catania candidly expressed her thoughts regarding the ongoing rift among the cast members. She stated, “It’s an ensemble cast. When we’re good, we’re really good, so it’s a shame that it’s come to this.” Catania referred to the current filming situation as “bullsh*t,” indicating her frustration with the inability of certain cast members to collaborate, specifically mentioning the ongoing tension between Gorga and Giudice, which has influenced the dynamics of the show.
“You don’t tell your boss who you’re gonna work with…listen, you know what you signed up for,” Catania remarked, emphasizing the reality of working in such a competitive and high-stakes environment. “Here’s the thing, if you don’t want to work with someone that’s there, then don’t go. You have the choice not to be there. You don’t tell NBC, Bravo who you want on the show and who you don’t — you don’t do that.” Her strong opinions shed light on the complexities of reality television casting and the expectations that come with it.
