Ryan Gosling Joke by Seth Rogen Bleeped at Golden Globes
Nikki Glaser’s Bold Humor: Targeting Celebrities at the 2025 Golden Globes
Nikki Glaser is riding high on the success of her debut hosting gig at the 2025 Golden Globes this past Sunday, showcasing her unique blend of humor and cutting-edge wit.
Despite the overwhelmingly positive reception to Glaser’s performance, there are lingering doubts as she reflects on her set. The talented comedian has expressed some regrets regarding her own delivery and is now sharing insights about the sharp, edgy jokes that didn’t make the final cut in her monologue.
During an engaging conversation with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM show on Monday morning, Glaser revealed some of the controversial jokes that were left out of her performance at the prestigious Beverly Hilton event.
“This is the last time all of you will be in the same room together until the Diddy trial,” Glaser humorously remarked, sharing one of the quips she ultimately decided against using.
“We had another Diddy mention that worked better … and you only get one Diddy mention,” she further elaborated. “You are also implicating the people in the room, which could lead them to turn against you.”
Another sensitive topic she skirted around was the ongoing drama surrounding the Catholic Church, specifically referencing the film Conclave.
“I adored Conclave. It’s about the selection of a new pope. It’s heartwarming and will touch you so much that the church should consider moving it to a different theater. Pro tip: You don’t need ID to get into the Conclave after-party,” Glaser humorously shared.
“We decided against these because they were Catholic Church pedophile jokes — we’ve all heard those, and we don’t need any more,” she added, clarifying her rationale.

Another omitted joke was a follow-up to her jab about Adrien Brody being a “two-time Holocaust survivor” for his roles in two Holocaust films — The Pianist and The Brutalist. She cut this line: “If Adrien Brody could travel back in time, he would thank baby Hitler for his career.”
“I loved that one so much,” Glaser confessed. “But my assistant is Gen Z, and she said, ‘I don’t get it,’” referring to the time travel/kill Hitler reference being outdated for younger audiences.
“Oh, we’ll lose an entire generation on that joke, and then I’ve said ‘Hitler’ for nothing,” she reasoned, contemplating the impact of her humor.
There was also a joke about Luigi Mangione, who is accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson: “Glen Powell is nominated tonight for Hit Man. Who would have thought you’d only be the second-hottest hit man in America?”
Glaser had planned to take some playful jabs at Nicole Kidman but ultimately decided against it.
“The Wild Robot is nominated tonight — and by that, I mean Nicole Kidman after two white wines,” Glaser humorously shared, revealing the joke that never aired.
“I wish we could have done that, but if she makes a face…” Glaser explained, before moving on to share her joke about Timothée Chalamet.

“Timothée Chalamet took lessons in guitar, dialect, movement, and vocals to portray Bob Dylan [in A Complete Unknown]. Meanwhile, Bob Dylan became Bob Dylan the old-fashioned way: through heroin and autism,” she quipped.
Alec Baldwin was also a target, following a cheeky Beetlejuice Beetlejuice reference that Glaser made.
“Michael Keaton was fantastic in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Unfortunately, Alec Baldwin didn’t return to reprise his role as a ghost because he was too busy making them,” Glaser joked, alluding to the tragic shooting incident involving Halyna Hutchins on Baldwin’s 2021 film, Rust.
“Please understand that I know that was not good. It’s such a great joke, but it’s just too mean,” Glaser stated, explaining her decision to leave that one out of her set.
“Here’s Ben Affleck. I can’t wait to see which Jennifer you try to break next,” she shared, hinting at the actor’s tumultuous romantic history, while also mentioning a previous joke about his failed marriage to Jennifer Lopez.

Glaser also mentioned that she “messed up” the Affleck joke during the live show.
While Glaser remarked, “Wicked, Queer, Nightbitch — these are not just words Ben Affleck yells after he orgasms. These are some of the incredible movies nominated tonight,” she revealed that the joke was originally intended to say “when he orgasms.”
“I said ‘after’ and it really bugged me,” Glaser noted. “It still works; it’s just less clear. It’s 2 percent more funny the other way.”
While Stern pointed out that no one cares about the versions of jokes they didn’t hear, Glaser emphasized that the audience would have appreciated them much more.

Although she was critical of her own performance following the event, Glaser noted that one of her writers reassured her that she received an “A+” for her hosting duties.
“I went to bed happy,” she reflected, expressing her satisfaction with the outcome.
Other jokes that didn’t make the final cut included a few jabs at Only Murders in the Building and a quip about Dax Shepard. Stern also inquired about how much she was compensated for her hosting gig.
“There was a previous host who disclosed his salary during his monologue,” Glaser recounted, referencing Jerrod Carmichael, who revealed he was paid $500,000 for hosting in 2023. “I received less than that. It’s okay. I’ll get more next year. I would have done it for free; it’s such an insane platform… [But] next time, I will ask for more money,” she stated confidently.
Although Glaser disclosed that she hasn’t been officially invited to host again next year, she feels optimistic about returning.
“I can’t imagine they wouldn’t… It’s difficult to find people willing to host these shows,” Glaser reasoned. “… [But] I could never live with myself if I turned it down because I’m terrified of bombing.”
