Summer 2025 Tour Announced by Styx and Kevin Cronin
Renowned rock legends Styx and Kevin Cronin of REO Speedwagon are set to embark on an exhilarating summer tour, showcasing a total of 40 electrifying dates. This highly anticipated event will feature the iconic former Eagles guitarist Don Felder as a special guest, promising a memorable experience for fans of classic rock.
The Brotherhood of Rock tour will officially kick off on May 28 in Greenville, SC, and it will conclude on August 24 in Milwaukee, WI. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale starting Friday, December 13. For those interested in pre-sale options, further details can be found on the official websites of Styx and Kevin Cronin. A comprehensive list of tour dates is provided below for fans to plan their attendance.
In an exciting statement to UCR, Styx vocalist and guitarist Tommy Shaw expressed his eagerness for the upcoming tour, stating, “It’s going to be so much fun. There’s going to be so much good music, and it’s all good folks that we love spending time with.” He emphasizes the deep-rooted camaraderie that defines this collaboration, referring to it as a long-standing brotherhood.
This tour marks a significant milestone for Cronin as it will be his first time sharing the stage with Styx under his own name. Earlier this fall, he made headlines by announcing his plans to retire the REO Speedwagon brand by the end of 2024 due to “irreconcilable differences.” Despite this, Cronin has maintained a strong connection with Styx, having toured with them numerous times during his illustrious career with REO.
Reflecting on their shared history, Cronin recalled, “You know, I’m from Chicago, and all of the original Styx guys are from Chicago. We have a long history that goes back to when I was in high school.” He fondly remembers their rivalry during their youth, noting, “They were a couple of years older than us, so they were a little bit better, and their girlfriends were a little bit hotter. It’s a long and sordid tale of rock ‘n’ roll history.”
During a recent discussion, Cronin expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to perform alongside Styx for the sixth time, reminiscing about their first collaboration in 2000 during the Arch Allies tour. “It’s a great confluence of good luck,” he stated. “This tour is titled the Brotherhood of Rock because it truly embodies that spirit, and I am extremely grateful to Tommy Shaw and the entire Styx organization for placing their trust in me.”
Both Cronin and Shaw shared their admiration for the Eagles’ musical legacy, specifically highlighting the exceptional guitar work and songwriting contributions from Don Felder during his tenure with the band. Felder reciprocated the praise, acknowledging the impact of their musical artistry.
“The amazing thing about this tour, to me, is the catalog of all three of these bands,” Felder shared with UCR. “It’s going to just be hit after hit after hit. In the past, we’ve even had a grand finale on some nights to wrap up the show, and it’s always been a blast. This tour promises to be just as exciting.”
While the concerts will focus heavily on the classic hits, all three artists are actively working on new music. Felder anticipates that his upcoming album will be released shortly before the tour begins. Meanwhile, Shaw is equally enthusiastic about the new material Styx is crafting, which he predicts will debut sometime in 2025. Cronin is in the planning stages for his next musical projects and is eager to complete a song he recently collaborated on with Richard Marx.
