The 20-Song Setlist From Guns N’ Roses’ 2001 Comeback Show
Guns N’ Roses performed their first present following the departures of Slash and Duff McKagan in January of 2001, treating followers to a 20-song set (plus two guitar solos) and a revamped lineup.
The efficiency was Axl Rose’s first with out Slash and McKagan since 1985. Slash left the band in ’96 and McKagan the next yr, so Rose stored a reasonably low profile the remainder of the last decade whereas he experimented with different musicians to hold on the band’s legacy with.
His first present with out his former bandmates came about Jan. 1, 2001 on the House of Blues in Las Vegas. Prior to the night, Guns N’ Roses hadn’t performed a present in any respect since July of 1993, which was years earlier than Slash and McKagan had even departed.
When Rose took the stage on New Year’s Day in ’01, he was joined by guitarists Paul “Huge” Tobias, Buckethead and Robin Finck, in addition to bassist Tommy Stinson, drummer Bryan Mantia and backing keyboardist Chris Pitman [via Setlist.fm].

It was the primary time a handful of songs had ever been performed, together with the one-off single “Oh My God,” which was launched in 1999 on the End of Days soundtrack.
Some Chinese Democracy tracks had been debuted that evening as effectively, together with the title monitor, “Riad N’ the Bedouins” and “Absurd,” an outtake that did not come out till 2021 when Slash and McKagan had been again within the band.
