2025 Tour Dates Announced by Drake for Australia and New Zealand
Drake is set to make an exciting return to Australia and New Zealand in early 2025, and fans are buzzing with anticipation.
On Thursday, November 28, the Canadian music icon unveiled the dates for his much-anticipated The Anita Max Win Tour, which marks his first visit to this vibrant region since 2017. This tour promises to deliver unforgettable performances that fans have long awaited.
The Live Nation-produced tour kicks off with two spectacular nights at Melbourne’s renowned Rod Laver Arena on February 9-10 and concludes with back-to-back shows at Auckland’s Spark Arena on February 28 and March 1. Tickets for the highly anticipated shows will become available for purchase through various presales starting Tuesday, December 3. Following this, the general onsale will kick off on December 6 at 12 p.m. local time. Make sure to set your reminders and grab your tickets quickly, as they are expected to sell out fast!
The Anita Max Win Tour gets its catchy name from a viral moment during Drake’s December 2023 livestream on Kick, where he introduced a new “alter ego” named Anita Max Win. The name cleverly references the gambling phrase “I need a max win,” which alludes to achieving the highest payout on a slot machine, adding a fun twist to the tour’s branding.
Drake first hinted at this exciting tour on November 24 during a livestream with gaming streamer xQc, revealing, “February 9th for anybody that’s watching from Australia, I’m coming back to Australia for the first time in eight years. Coming back to Australia on tour. Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast… February 9 ’til like… March something.” The words sparked a wave of excitement among fans eager for his return.
This tour represents a significant comeback for Drake’s Australian and New Zealand fans, who last experienced his electrifying performances during the Boy Meets World Tour in 2017. “Funny enough, it’s actually called the Anita Max Wynn Tour,” the Toronto artist shared during the xQc livestream, reminiscing about his previous shows and the excitement surrounding his return.
In August, Drake also made headlines by announcing his upcoming collaborative album with PARTYNEXTDOOR. PND recently went live on Instagram, sharing thrilling updates about their joint project. “Guys, I have one more show left on this tour,” PARTYNEXTDOOR informed his fans. “Then the album is getting finished. That’s all I gotta say.” The collaboration promises to be a game-changer in the music scene.
Drake’s tour announcement is particularly significant as it coincides with Kendrick Lamar’s highly anticipated Super Bowl Halftime Show performance on February 9, the same date as the commencement of Drake’s tour. The two rappers have been at the forefront of a widely publicized rivalry in 2024, exchanging barbs through diss tracks like Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and Drake’s “Push Ups.” Lamar also recently released his surprise album GNX, adding even more intensity to their ongoing feud.
