Ilona Maher Discusses Her Next Reality Competition Series
Mary Bonnet Prepares for the Challenges of Season 9 After a Tumultuous Season 8
It seems that the entire Selling Sunset cast is set to return for the highly anticipated Season 9, much to the delight of fans eagerly awaiting more drama and real estate intrigue.

“We’re actually on the verge of starting filming … I’m not sure if I’m really supposed to say that, but we’re getting ready to start filming, and yes, there’s going to be another reunion,” Mary enthusiastically shared with TooFab.

When discussing the absence of a reunion episode after Season 8, Mary seemed to suggest that such a gathering was never really part of the plan.
“I don’t think they were ever planning on doing one. I believe a lot of people just assumed it was going to happen due to all the fighting. It’s probably for the best that we didn’t do it because it’s still pretty crazy behind the scenes and quite emotional,” she explained with candidness.
“So, I’m not sure how things will go once we begin filming. I’ll need to put my conflict gear on, I believe,” she humorously added, hinting at the ongoing tensions within the group.
The reality star also revealed that relationships among many cast members remain strained, adding another layer of complexity to the upcoming season.
“Clearly, Nicole [Young], Emma [Hernan], I think Bre [Tiesi] and Chelsea [Lazkani] still have their issues. Bre and Emma are at odds,” she elaborated. “There’s quite a complicated map of who gets along with whom, which makes it really challenging for me because I get along with everyone.”
Despite rumors and threats from some cast members about potentially not returning for another season, Mary confirmed to TooFab that everyone is expected to return, providing reassurance to fans.
“Yes, I believe so,” Mary affirmed, before TooFab inquired if that included Chrishell Stause specifically. “Yes,” she confirmed, putting to rest any doubts about Chrishell’s return.

Mary and Romain are both optimistic that Season 9 will take a more positive turn following the tumultuous events of the eighth season.
“I really hope that people will stop the low blows; I think we’ve seen enough of that,” Mary expressed, while Romain chimed in, “More real estate, please.”
“I would like us to be more professional. We can have fun; it’s very entertaining when we have fun together,” she continued. “I want to highlight that side of things, focusing on the positive drama rather than all of this negativity.”
The happy couple was honored to present an award at the Gurus 2024 Awards, organized by Gurus Journal and hosted by founder and publisher Derek Warburton, at SLS Beverly Hills.
“I always love doing anything for him [Derek]. He’s just so amazing, and I’m excited to be here presenting an award for the deserving individuals; it’s going to be fun,” Mary expressed with enthusiasm.

Inside the Turbulent Drama of Selling Sunset
The Netflix sensation has just wrapped up its eighth season, which was filled with more drama than ever before. Viewers witnessed Bre Tiesi break the shocking news to her co-star Chelsea Lazkani that her husband, Jeff Lazkani, was allegedly seen kissing another woman. Meanwhile, Nicole Young accused Emma Hernan of having an affair with a married man, openly discussing these rumors with various co-stars without ever giving Emma a chance to respond—all while attempting to sell multi-million dollar properties.
As for what Mary hopes to see in Season 9? It’s quite simple: what she has always wished for.
“I feel the way I always feel; I always want to push the show in a positive direction,” Mary previously told TooFab in September. “And I know people love drama, and I’m in the minority here, but I always want to use our platform for good, so I’m doing that alone right now.”
Although Mary acknowledges that Season 9 will likely feature “drama, big houses, and fabulous fashion,” she expressed a desire to foster “more empowering friendships among women.”
“Because I think that’s what the world truly needs,” she added, emphasizing the importance of positivity.

Mary has been a steadfast presence on the show since Season 1, witnessing the highs and lows that unfold both on and off the screen. However, the most surprising revelation for her in Season 8—positively—was the emergence of her friendship with Bre.
“Honestly, I love Bre; I feel like she is very direct, and I’ve started talking to her much more. It’s an unlikely friendship,” Mary mentioned, noting her appreciation for how Chrishell handled the challenges of the past season as well.
“She has let her frustrations take over in the past few seasons, but this season she was just there for everyone, being the compassionate, loving person I know,” she praised Stause.
“I always want everyone to show their best self, and I believe Chrishell did that, as did Bre, by being a girl’s girl even when she didn’t have to,” Mary said, referencing Bre’s decision to inform Chelsea about the allegations against her husband.
“She went and told her, and she was like, ‘This could backfire, but she did it anyway,’ and I think that’s commendable,” Mary remarked, emphasizing Bre’s good intentions.
