Vocalist Quits Oceano Band Following Backlash Statement
Adam Warren, the vocalist of Oceano, has made a significant decision regarding his career, announcing his departure from the influential deathcore band following a series of public controversies. In a detailed statement, he expressed his intent to leave the band and confirmed that Oceano has withdrawn from the highly publicized 2025 tour alongside Attila and Dealer. This decision comes after Warren took the time to educate himself on the backlash surrounding the tour and the serious allegations tied to some of the bands involved, which had initially caught him off guard.
Initially, Warren had defended Oceano’s participation in the tour, citing a lack of awareness about the growing controversy that had emerged. However, the situation prompted a deeper reflection on his choices and their implications.

Understanding the Controversy Surrounding the Tour
The highly anticipated 2025 American Rejects tour was set to feature a lineup including Attila, Oceano, Dealer, and Nathan James. However, it quickly became embroiled in controversy. Alpha Wolf’s bassist, Josh Arnold, ignited the discussion by labeling the tour as the “rapist abuser tour,” alluding to serious sexual misconduct allegations against at least one member of the touring ensemble.
In early 2018, Dealer’s vocalist, Aidan Ellaz, faced serious allegations leading to his dismissal as the frontman of Alpha Wolf due to the gravity of the accusations. Subsequently, in 2020, allegations of abuse against Ellaz resurfaced, prompting the remaining members of Dealer to leave, citing his verbal and emotional abuse of a bandmate.

Attila’s Chris Fronzak has previously denied allegations of sexual misconduct made against him in 2020, while the band’s drummer, Bryan McClure, was dismissed that same year over accusations of rape and grooming. Dealer, formed after Ellaz’s split from Alpha Wolf, initially found success under Fronzak’s label.
Fit For a King bassist Ryan O’Leary has also commented on the American Rejects tour, questioning whether Dealer would participate in Fronz’s OnlyFans, hinting at the controversies surrounding the band.
Oceano’s Involvement in the Controversial Tour
In recent years, there has been growing discontent among fans regarding the decisions of support bands to tour with other groups that have problematic histories. This has become particularly relevant for Oceano, as the DIY record label ds//fp publicly criticized their involvement in the tour, urging the band to reconsider their position.
This backlash prompted Warren to respond, stating that he was unaware of the ongoing discussions and controversies surrounding the tour. He mentioned being preoccupied with family and work commitments, implying that he had not kept up with the developments in the music community. In his initial response, he did not address the specifics of the controversy but expressed his support for Oceano’s decision to take the tour opportunity.
In later responses to further scrutiny from ds//fp, Warren reassured fans that he would be vigilant during the tour to prevent any negative incidents from occurring. He defended his character against the criticisms directed at him, indicating that he had no involvement in the situations that led to the numerous allegations affecting his peers.
Adam Warren’s Decision to Leave Oceano and the Tour
After taking time to reflect and educate himself on the concerns raised by fans, Warren has decided to withdraw from the American Rejects tour and leave Oceano altogether. His lengthy statement reveals a realization of his lack of awareness regarding the serious allegations associated with the tour lineup.
Warren openly admitted, “It is clear I was not informed enough to make a proper decision to tour with this package. I’ve never encountered bands generating such significant controversy, and I was only made aware of the serious allegations after the tour announcement.”
He further encouraged anyone affected by these individuals or bands to reach out to law enforcement and pursue legal action, highlighting the importance of addressing such serious issues. Regarding the earlier allegations made against Ellaz in 2018, law enforcement was reportedly involved in the investigation, according to sources.
Warren concluded his statement by expressing his frustration with those who attempted to place blame solely on him for the controversy. He challenged critics to consider what they are doing to address the culture of abuse in the music industry rather than simply pointing fingers and sharing rumors.
He reflected on his disillusionment with the music scene, stating that he is quitting Oceano effective immediately but plans to organize the band’s final shows in 2025.
Believe it or not, some people don’t spend their lives on the internet. My only goal has been to seize opportunities to advance Oceano since the fans expressed their desire for it. You will not portray me as a bad person for actions I am not connected to regarding other band members’ conduct. There was a time when I elevated myself on social media, and I no longer agree with that perspective. I wasn’t aware of the depth of accusations against Attila and its members, given that Oceano had been inactive for a significant period. I didn’t even know Dealer beyond hearing their name years ago. I was unaware of the other bands on the tour until long after we agreed to participate, and no one in my circle indicated any issues with our decision.
If you continue to read, keep asking yourself WHAT words I have used that are harmful? No one knew my circumstances or perspective until now, and I want to emphasize that I do not support any form of abuse or harm to anyone ever. However, I cannot focus on what you or anyone in the music scene personally does online as I have other commitments. It is evident I was not informed enough to make a sound decision regarding this tour package. I had no idea of the serious allegations surrounding the individuals involved until the tour was announced. I urge anyone affected by these individuals or bands to contact authorities and take legal action.
I have always tried to be kind and positive within this music scene, especially online, which can be challenging at times. A year ago, we nearly disbanded Oceano for good. We had an album ready to drop, but we were done. I had ZERO idea my name was being linked alongside people facing serious accusations. Why am I being criticized for merely learning about these issues in real-time? People are quick to attack, demonstrating a disregard for those affected. While I have been fortunate with opportunities, I feel disrespected by a scene that seems more like a facade than a genuine reality.
After gathering my own information, it is evident that we will be removing Oceano from the tour. However, I am disappointed in those who attempted to scapegoat me. What are YOU doing to change this culture beyond casting blame and sharing rumors? It’s time for action. I had no idea of the environment I was entering, and I am openly discussing it. What are YOU doing to initiate change?
As of today, I feel surrounded by complicit industry figures, a Metal “scene” filled with imitation, idolization of band members, and a diminishing focus on artistic integrity. I no longer wish to exist in this environment. Therefore, I am resigning from Oceano and will pursue my path as a solo independent artist (Adam On Earth).
Plans for Oceano’s final shows are now in motion for 2025, and it feels cathartic to finally share this news.
Engaging with Fans: Adam Warren’s Dialogue on Social Media
Fans, along with the previously mentioned record label, have shared their thoughts on Warren’s three-part statement. One fan expressed disappointment over Oceano’s breakup due to this backlash. In response, Warren urged the individual to be more “attentive to detail” while reading his statement.
Another commenter pointed out (via The PRP) that it might have been wise to investigate the bands they were touring with to avoid the backlash that ensued.
