Regardless of public opinion, Nick Cannon has always been transparent about his personal life. While fans are often updated on his numerous children, the father of twelve has more pressing matters at hand. Beyond managing his battle with Lupus, he has recently disclosed his diagnosis of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). In a candid interview with People, he discussed the importance of accepting this condition and how it plays a role in his life.

At 44 years old, Nick has always felt different, recognizing his neurodivergence from a young age due to his struggles with dyslexia and later receiving an ADHD diagnosis. He now acknowledges that he is on a path of healing and actively seeking assistance to manage his NPD after finally deciding to pursue testing for it. This journey towards understanding himself better is crucial for his personal growth.

“I still don’t fully grasp it all,” he revealed during a pre-Thanksgiving event for the Los Angeles Mission. He believes that sharing his mental health journey, even amidst uncertainty, serves a greater purpose by inspiring and encouraging others who may be facing similar struggles.

“There are so many labels out there, but I choose to embrace my truth and say, ‘Look, I’m healing. I need help. Show me how to navigate this.’ I strongly advocate for mental health and therapy. Being an example for others while undergoing my own healing process is incredibly valuable,” he added.

Nick Cannon Opens Up About His NPD Diagnosis on the Counsel Culture Podcast

In a groundbreaking revelation during a November 8 episode of Counsel Culture, Nick Cannon shared his diagnosis. In a revealing conversation with Dr. Cheyenne Bryant, a psychology expert, he disclosed that he exhibits nearly all the “markers” associated with NPD. Rather than shying away from the stigma attached to the term, he is confronting it head-on, showcasing resilience in the face of adversity. Despite the unflattering labels he has received, he remains unapologetic about his journey.

“I’ve reclaimed the power of the term narcissism by educating myself about it. You can call me whatever you want… but if I didn’t understand what it meant, that would be problematic for me,” he expressed candidly to Bryant.

“I’m a busy man on Thanksgiving,” he noted, referring to his plans to visit multiple family homes throughout the holiday. “I will certainly be full by the end of the day, but everyone has their specialties, you know what I mean? Some people whip up the best sweet potato pie, while others are known for their amazing fried turkey. I make sure to visit the houses that serve my favorite dishes,” he explained.

Recently, he delighted fans on Instagram by sharing heartwarming family photos featuring Brittany Bell alongside their children: Golden, 7, Rise, 2, and Powerful Queen, 3.
