Ariana Grande Reacts to ‘Wicked’ Golden Globes Nominations
Ariana Grande and the acclaimed musical Wicked have captured significant attention from the Golden Globes voters this year. The talented 31-year-old singer-actress took to her Instagram Stories on Monday, December 9, to express her heartfelt gratitude and excitement regarding this recognition, showcasing her passion for both her craft and the project.
Grande shared a post celebrating her nomination for Best Supporting Actress, which was announced earlier that morning as part of the Golden Globes’ 2025 nominations. She began her joyful message with an enthusiastic “oh my goodness oh my goodness,” reflecting her genuine surprise and elation at this prestigious acknowledgment from the film industry.
“I am absolutely floored and deeply honored to receive this recognition from the esteemed members of the @goldenglobes,” she continued in her emotional post. “Crying (of course) … It’s genuinely challenging to articulate my feelings, but I am profoundly grateful for this acknowledgment of my work and dedication.”
Ariana’s nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category places her alongside formidable talents such as Emilia Pérez’s Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldana from The Brutalist, Felicity Jones in The Substance, Margaret Qualley, and Isabella Rossellini from Conclave. Additionally, Wicked has also garnered nominations for Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, as well as for Cinematic Box Office Achievement. Cynthia Erivo, Grande’s co-star, is also nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, a point that Grande joyfully highlighted in her post.
“Congratulations to my brilliant, dear sister @cynthiaerivo, and all of our Ozian family for this wonderful celebration of our collaborative work,” she concluded her message with warmth and gratitude. “I can’t possibly articulate my gratitude enough for this honor.”
This recognition comes on the heels of Jon M. Chu’s Wicked premiering in theaters on November 22. Since its debut, the project’s soundtrack album has impressively surged to No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking the highest-ever debut for a film adaptation of a stage musical. Moreover, the film has achieved remarkable success, becoming the highest-grossing movie at the domestic box office derived from a Broadway musical.
Ariana Grande’s portrayal of Glinda in the film has also received accolades from various prestigious organizations. Notably, the Palm Springs International Film Awards is set to honor her with the Rising Star Award, while the Astra Awards recently celebrated her as Best Supporting Actress, sharing this accolade with Zoe Saldana. In response to this recognition, the “Yes, And?” musician expressed her immense gratitude on her Story, stating, “Thank you so so so much for this honor.”
“And yes, @zoesaldana, we did it :’) !” she added joyfully. “I’m incredibly grateful to share this recognition with you as well.”
