In September, Hamilton made waves by announcing his involvement with Close Enemies, shortly after Aerosmith revealed their retirement from touring due to Steven Tyler’s significant vocal injury. The lineup includes Hamilton, guitarists Trace Foster (who also serves as Hamilton’s bass technician) and Peter Stroud (known for his work with Sheryl Crow), drummer Tony Brock (who has played with The Babys and Rod Stewart), and singer Chasen Hampton. The band’s lyricist, Gary Stier, rounds out this talented ensemble. Close Enemies made their debut performance at Nashville’s Eastside Bowl in October, marking an exciting new chapter for Hamilton.
Reflecting on his experience, Hamilton shared, “When I joined, these guys had worked up a bunch of great songs, and I was able to contribute something I had,” in an interview with AARP in August. He expressed his hope to bring forth some of his own compositions when the time is right, noting, “All of these guys are great musicians, and it’s an honor and a challenge to be part of it all. I’m looking forward to seeing how people like it. I think they’ll be pleasantly amazed!” This sentiment showcases his enthusiasm for the collaboration and the music they are creating together.
