In June, Anderson delighted fans with the release of “Shine On,” which marked his first original single created with the Band Geeks. This captivating track was skillfully produced by Anderson and Richie Castellano of Blue Oyster Cult, who also serves as the band’s bassist and musical director. Their collaboration continued with the release of their full-length debut album, True, which dropped in August, showcasing their unique sound and artistry.
Anderson’s journey with Castellano began in the summer of 2018 when he stumbled upon a remarkable cover of the title track from Close to the Edge, titled “Close to the Edge: A Band Geek Yes Cover with Chris Clark.” This inspired him to form the new group, which has since captivated audiences with their fresh interpretations of classic Yes music.
The last studio album featuring Anderson and Yes was the critically acclaimed Magnification, released in 2001. The Band Geeks lineup also features talented musicians such as keyboardists Chris Clark and Andy Ascolese, bassist Andy Graziano, and guitarist Robert Kipp, all contributing to the rich sound that fans have come to love.
