Clown Confirms Slipknot’s Long-Awaited Album Release
Shawn “Clown” Crahan of Slipknot has excitingly announced that fans are closer than ever to experiencing the long-awaited Look Outside Your Window album. He mentioned that the project is now “out of my hands,” indicating that a concrete release plan is finally in motion. This long-delayed album has been shrouded in mystery, and anticipation has only grown as fans eagerly await its arrival.
During an interview with NME, Crahan elaborated on the album, which was initially recorded alongside the band’s 2008 release, All Hope Is Gone. Over the years, it has developed a cult following among Slipknot enthusiasts, partially due to its reputation as a more experimental project. Corey Taylor himself described the sound as having a distinct “rock vibe,” even comparing it to the style of Radiohead during his appearance on Eddie Trunk’s show.

The fact that the album has been on hold for an astonishing 16 years has only heightened the excitement surrounding its eventual release. Crahan, having had the most influence over its production, has been a driving force behind the project’s development.
Recently, guitarist Jim Root made headlines by jokingly threatening to leak the album in an effort to spur its release. However, Crahan reassured fans that he has completed his work and has turned the project over to management, who are now in charge of finalizing the release strategy.

In his conversation with NME, Crahan reflected on his previous commitment to release the album this year. He stated, “I did say it was going to be in 2024, and I gave it the best fight that I could to make it this year.” He went on to reveal that he recently showed Corey the final artwork for the album, affirming that the release is indeed happening. However, he acknowledged that logistical issues related to the Christmas and New Year holiday season prevent it from being released this year.
Crahan emphasized, “But you have my word, it’s out of my hands now. It’s being moved on, the money has been spent, and there is a plan in place. The management has it, and it is coming out.” This statement brings a sense of reassurance to fans who have been waiting for updates on the album’s progress.
After putting the finishing touches on the album, Crahan expressed his satisfaction, saying, “I’m really pleased about it and happy to finally be rid of it! What’s nice though is that it isn’t a hype thing; it’s just something we did while we were working on other Slipknot albums. It was a very honest action to create music that wasn’t strictly Slipknot but still utilized the talents of the band members without any constraints.” This highlights the creative freedom that was present during the album’s production.
While he candidly remarked, “I don’t know if it’s ‘good’, but I know that I love it,” Crahan also expressed hope that the fans who have waited so long will find it worthwhile. His passion for the music shines through, making it clear that this album is a labor of love for him.
As Slipknot continues to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their iconic debut album, they are also wrapping up a series of performances in the U.K., with additional shows scheduled in Australia and Europe for the upcoming year. Fans can find ticketing information and updates on their official website.
