Denzel Apologizes to Ryan Coogler for Marvel Incident
Denzel Washington personally reached out to Ryan Coogler to express his regrets for unintentionally revealing details about his potential involvement in a Marvel project.
What connects Tom Holland, Mark Ruffalo, Owen Wilson, and Denzel Washington? While they are all part of the expansive Marvel Cinematic Universe, the real topic here is the infamous Marvel spoilers. Although Denzel has not yet made an official entry into the MCU, he inadvertently revealed that he was approached for a role in Black Panther 3 before he was supposed to share any such information. This slip-up has left him feeling quite remorseful.
During a recent episode of the Variety Awards Circuit podcast (as reported by Entertainment Weekly), Denzel Washington candidly acknowledged his mistake after revealing that Ryan Coogler had a part prepared for him in the Marvel universe. Understanding the gravity of Marvel’s strict policy against spoilers, Denzel felt compelled to reach out and rectify the situation. He shared, “I called him the other day. I forgot what it was about — no, I called him to apologize. That’s right. I called him. I said, ‘I’m sorry, man.’ He’s like, ‘No, man, it’s all good.’ I FaceTimed, and right there next to him was his lady. They were editing. They were hanging out.”
So, will Denzel Washington actually join the Marvel Cinematic Universe? While speculation suggests that this is a strong possibility, he has adopted a more cautious stance following Coogler’s discretion. Denzel remarked, “I don’t know what he’s got cooking for me. I love Ryan, because he’s like, he won’t say things. ‘You know what I’m saying? Like, you know what I’m saying?’ Well, at least that’s when he talks to me. It’s like, ‘You know what I’m saying?’” Currently, the dialogue surrounding Black Panther 3 remains shrouded in mystery, which might ultimately be better for all parties involved.
Denzel Washington has hinted at the possibility of retirement, and a cameo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe could represent one of his final projects, alongside a couple of Shakespeare adaptations and Spike Lee’s remake of High and Low. Although Black Panther 3 isn’t officially scheduled yet, the phenomenal success of Wakanda Forever, which grossed over $850 million globally and ranks among the top-grossing films of the last 10 MCU releases, suggests that a sequel is almost certain.
