The Monkey – the highly anticipated new adaptation of Stephen King’s work – has just released a chilling new clip that serves as a delightful yet eerie Christmas surprise for fans of horror. This latest teaser offers a glimpse of the spine-tingling atmosphere that this film promises to deliver.

In March, we learned that the production for The Monkey had officially wrapped up. This adaptation is being brought to life by the renowned team of producer James Wan, a staple in the horror genre, alongside director Osgood Perkins, known for his work on films such as The Blackcoat’s Daughter (also known as February), and I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House. The film, which also features the recent Nicolas Cage horror flick Longlegs – which you can read our review of HERE – is set to hit theaters on February 21, 2025. As a special Christmas gift, Neon has released a new clip that is sure to send chills down your spine.

Recently, Entertainment Weekly shared an exclusive set of images from the film, including a fascinating behind-the-scenes shot, which you can check out at the end of this article. These visuals provide a sneak peek into the dark and gripping world created for The Monkey.

Osgood Perkins adapted the screenplay for The Monkey from a short story by Stephen King. The film’s narrative centers around twin brothers Hal and Bill, who stumble upon their father’s old monkey toy in the attic. This discovery triggers a horrifying series of deaths that plague their lives. In an effort to escape the terror, the brothers decide to discard the cursed toy and move on, but as time passes and the mysterious deaths resurface, they are forced to reunite. Together, they must confront the sinister forces tied to the monkey and find a way to eliminate it once and for all, lest it claims the lives of their loved ones.

The film features Theo James from The White Lotus portraying the adult versions of the twins, while Christian Convery from Sweet Tooth plays their younger selves. The cast is further enriched by talents like Elijah Wood from The Lord of the Rings, Tatiana Maslany from She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Colin O’Brien from Wonka, Rohan Campbell from Halloween Ends, and Sarah Levy from Schitt’s Creek. According to the article from Entertainment Weekly, Maslany portrays the twins’ mother, Wood takes on the role of Ted Hammerman, who is married to Hal’s ex-wife and poses a threat to Hal’s son through adoption, and Levy is cast as the boys’ aunt who raises them and appears throughout their lives. Additionally, there’s an intriguing image featuring Nicco Del Rio from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as a priest, hinting at the film’s deeper narrative layers.

The upcoming film is produced by James Wan and Michael Clear for Atomic Monster, with Jason Cloth and Dave Caplan producing for C2 Motion Picture Group. The executive production team includes industry veterans such as Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger from Automatik, along with Peter Luo and Nancy Xu from Stars Collective, John Friedberg of Black Bear, and Chris Ferguson. The project was developed by Atomic Monster and Stars Collective, with C2 Motion Picture Group providing the essential financing.

Reflecting on the project, Wan expressed: “Stephen King is the godfather of the horror genre. He had a huge influence on me as a child and throughout my career, and it’s always been a dream to help bring one of his stories to life. The Monkey is a personal favorite, with its simple, iconic, and incredibly marketable conceit. And I can’t imagine anyone better than a visionary and lifelong genre fan like Osgood to bring this to life.
