A Working Man Triumphs Over Disney’s Snow White

This past weekend at the domestic box office, the electrifying action film A Working Man, featuring the charismatic Jason Statham, triumphantly outperformed Disney’s Snow White. The film captivated audiences and showcased Statham’s undeniable star power, proving once again that action movies resonate strongly with theatergoers.

Directed by the acclaimed David Ayer, known for his work on Suicide Squad, A Working Man debuted with an impressive $15.2 million in the United States. This opening weekend figure closely aligns with Ayer and Statham’s previous collaboration, The Beekeeper, which secured $16.5 million during its debut weekend in 2024, indicating a consistent appeal for their action-packed narratives.

In a surprising turn of events, Disney’s Snow White landed in second place, generating $14.2 million and reflecting a significant -66% decline from its opening weekend, as reported by Deadline. This drop raises questions about audience reception and the competitive landscape of the current film market.

Meanwhile, the faith-based film The Chosen: Last Supper – Part 1 emerged as a strong contender among new releases, surpassing other debuts including Blumhouse’s The Woman in the Yard and A24’s Death of a Unicorn. Additionally, Warner Bros.’ The Alto Knights struggled to maintain momentum, failing to break into the top ten in its second week, with a disappointing domestic total of just $5.5 million.
