This Year’s Jam for Janie: Supporting Victims of Los Angeles Wildfires
Tyler established Janie’s Fund in 2015, inspired by Aerosmith’s iconic hit song “Janie’s Got a Gun,” to provide crucial support and care for girls and young women who have experienced abuse. This year, the Jam for Janie event not only aims to further its mission but will also extend its benefits to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and the Widows, Orphans, and Disabled Firefighter’s Fund, addressing the aftermath of the devastating Southern California wildfires. Over 100 firefighters will be honored and welcomed at the event.
Tyler expressed his sentiments regarding the wildfires, stating, “What the Los Angeles community has endured with these wildfires is unthinkable. Music has healing powers, and we hope to bring a moment of joy and levity to our first-responder firefighters and those most affected by the fires.” He also emphasized the importance of supporting the girls served by Janie’s Fund, acknowledging their trauma as equally unthinkable and pledging to continue advocating for their needs.
Aerosmith’s Retirement: What Led to Their Decision?
Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring last summer, attributing the decision to Tyler’s vocal injury, which was severe enough to necessitate the postponement of their Peace Out farewell tour after only three performances in 2023. Ultimately, the tour was canceled before it could be resumed. Recently, Hamilton provided an update on Tyler’s health, stating that his recovery is progressing well, albeit “at its own pace.”
Hamilton further remarked, “Maybe Aerosmith will do something in the future, but it’s a big ‘if’. The last thing I want to do is push Steven in that direction.” He has been preoccupied with his new band, Close Enemies, but remains hopeful about the band’s future, emphasizing that any decisions would come from Tyler himself.
