Recently, Matt Barnes’ ex-fiancée Anansa Sims took to Instagram with a powerful and detailed post addressing the former NBA player following his comments about the personal losses he has faced. She did not hold back in articulating her feelings and experiences, clearly articulating her perspective on their complicated relationship.
This response from Sims came shortly after Barnes opened up during a recent episode of his podcast, ‘All The Smoke’, where he reflected on the significant personal transformations he has undergone in light of recent events.

Matt Barnes Reflects on the Impact of Losing His Family
The father of three has remained relatively silent about his personal life, especially following the serious allegations made by his ex regarding his alleged infidelity with multiple women, including Masika Kalysha, back in January. It is important to note that Kalysha has publicly denied these accusations.
In a candid discussion on Thursday’s podcast episode, Barnes openly acknowledged that his actions have directly contributed to the fracture of his family. He expressed a profound realization that his emotional absence, lack of empathy, and failure to provide for his family have significantly impacted his relationships.
“Through my actions, I literally just lost my family… I wasn’t there emotionally; I wasn’t empathetic,” he stated, shedding light on his struggles.
Barnes recalled being emotionally closed off since childhood, remembering how his ex-partner often described him as acting like a “wall.” This reflection led him to understand that, despite appearing to have everything figured out as an adult, there is still a wounded child within him grappling with past experiences.
“Trying to dig back and understand, I started counseling, realizing that little Matt from back then is still hurt and still trying to find his way. Although grown Matt feels like he has it all, little Matt is there more than I realize,” he shared thoughtfully.
He took the opportunity to challenge his male audience, encouraging those who resonate with the challenge of expressing emotions to reflect on their own experiences. Additionally, Barnes posed a poignant question about the difficulty of crying when the tears simply won’t flow. Despite understanding the importance of emotional release, he admits that he hasn’t genuinely cried in “30 years.”
Anansa Sims Responds with a Powerful Message
In response to Barnes’ revelations, Sims was quick to take action, composing a well-thought-out rebuttal shortly after the podcast aired. Her reaction was clearly serious, as evidenced by the length and depth of her response, concluding with the phrase “Peace & Blessings,” indicating her intent to communicate respectfully despite the tension.
After accusing Barnes of damaging their relationship through alleged infidelities, Sims expressed her discontent with what she described as “half-truths” in his attempt to garner public sympathy. She criticized him for seemingly showcasing vulnerability online to gain likes and followers rather than addressing the real issues at hand.
Sims emphasized the ongoing need for emotional support for their children in light of their father’s actions, stating that Barnes’ attempt to reshape the narrative surrounding their breakup was counterproductive to the healing process. She highlighted the detrimental effects of his choices on their family.
“Don’t post half-truths about me and our past relationship to gain sympathy from the masses,” she wrote in her Instagram post. “If you don’t have respect for yourself or for me, at least have respect for our children who follow you and see your posts. Your posts are triggering for the kids and me, while we’re in the midst of healing and rebuilding our lives. We’re the ones who have suffered the consequences of your selfish, toxic choices,” she passionately stated.
Furthermore, Sims urged Barnes to refrain from discussing their past publicly, emphasizing that her primary focus, along with their children, is on healing and moving forward positively. She suggested that true healing would come from seeking consistent therapy and building a stronger relationship with God.
“If you want to do some good, please don’t speak about me, go get consistent therapy and most importantly start building a relationship with God,” she concluded, leaving her message with “Peace & Blessings.”
