Upon welcoming Jolie, 49, Fallon quickly commented on her distinctive choice of footwear — or rather, the lack of it.
“I noticed that you’re barefoot. Did you forget your shoes?” he playfully asked, to which Jolie responded with a chuckle, “No, I broke my toe yesterday.”
“I tried to find a comfortable shoe, but ultimately, I just decided not to wear any,” she added, while Fallon reassured her that the most important thing was her comfort during the show.
“We’re just glad you’re here!” the late-night host exclaimed, noting her dark-colored pedicure.
As the conversation progressed, Fallon brought up Jolie’s significant achievement of winning her first Tony Award earlier this year for her role in the musical adaptation of The Outsiders. Jolie confessed to Fallon that she experiences “nervousness” when appearing on talk shows, revealing that this moment marked her return to such platforms after a considerable hiatus.
“By the way, I get very nervous on talk shows. I feel quite uncomfortable, and I haven’t participated in one for almost a decade,” she shared, as the audience applauded her honesty, then jokingly added to Fallon, “And you know this!”
“This is really not my thing,” she added, emphasizing her discomfort with the situation.
Meanwhile, the dedicated mother of six — sharing Maddox, 23, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16, with ex-husband Brad Pitt — elaborated on her children’s disinterest in pursuing acting careers like their parents.
“My children, I feel some of them [want to work] off-camera, behind the scenes, but they really, really want to be — especially Shiloh — they want to be private,” Jolie revealed. “Just private, not photographed, not in the public eye. I think, especially her, would appreciate privacy the most.”
“It must get so complicated since everyone is famous,” Fallon remarked, to which Jolie explained, “But it wasn’t their choice. Some individuals are more comfortable with the public eye, while others prefer the intimacy of being behind the scenes.”
“And some people are not,” she joked, highlighting the differences in comfort levels among her children.

Additionally, during the interview, Jolie addressed various “rumors” surrounding other careers she once pursued or might have pursued had she not achieved significant success as an actress.
“Is it true that before acting, you were studying to become a funeral director?” Fallon inquired, to which Jolie responded with a smile, “Yes, that is true.”
“That was the one rumor I didn’t think was true!” Fallon exclaimed, prompting Jolie to elaborate on this rather unconventional career aspiration.
“Doesn’t it make sense, though?” she asked with a laugh. “My grandfather passed away, and I recall thinking, ‘This is not how they should be honored. It should be a celebration of life.’ Since I was not afraid of death and felt comfortable with it, I thought that this could be a wonderful career path. I could make this experience better. It was my fallback career.”
As for an alternative career? A pilot. Jolie — who holds a pilot’s license — revealed that her eldest child, Maddox, is training to become a pilot as well!
“I’m a pilot, and my son Maddox is training to be a pilot too. In fact, he is already a pilot,” she shared with Fallon, showcasing her pride.
“So you can fly a plane right now?” Fallon asked, to which Jolie playfully replied, “I can … I got you!”
