Former Minnesota Vikings linebacker and NFL standout Anthony Barr — often credited with the original concept behind the 'Tush Push' play — strongly believes that the NFL should not proceed with banning this controversial quarterback sneak maneuver. He argues that eliminating such a tactic could undermine the strategic depth of the game.

The former NFL player, who gained attention some time ago for suggesting the Brotherly Shove tactic long before the Philadelphia Eagles popularized it, expressed his views to TMZ Sports during an appearance at LAX. He cautioned that if Roger Goodell and the NFL decision-makers choose to ban this play, it could have significant repercussions for the league and its fan engagement.

“It is a slippery slope,” Barr stated emphatically. “If you ban one play, you need to consider what might be next on the chopping block. This type of regulation can lead to unintended consequences that alter the very fabric of the game.”

According to reports from ESPN, during the recent NFL annual meeting held in Florida, 16 teams voted to eliminate the ‘Tush Push’ play. Initially, it seemed likely that this maneuver could become officially prohibited. However, the NFL decided to postpone the vote due to the complexities surrounding the issue and the potential impact on gameplay.

Barr firmly voiced his preference for keeping the play in the game, urging defensive teams to simply “find a way to stop it” if they have issues with its execution.
