Anthony Ramos Discusses His Villainous Role in MCU Series
Anthony Ramos is sharing his enthusiasm about taking on the role of a villain in Marvel’s highly anticipated series, Ironheart.
Ramos has been cast as Parker Robbins/The Hood in Ironheart, which is set to debut on Disney+ in June 2025. This Marvel Studios series will feature Dominique Thorne reprising her role as Riri Williams/Ironheart, following her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the acclaimed film, 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
In an interview with ComingSoon, Ramos expressed his thoughts on stepping into the shoes of a villain, especially since he has predominantly portrayed heroic characters in projects such as the award-winning musical film, 2021’s In the Heights, and the action-packed adventure, 2023’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
Anthony Ramos Explores the Excitement of Playing a Villain in Ironheart
“It is cool,” Ramos remarked. “I’m starting to get these bad guy roles. Even in Twisters, I wasn’t necessarily the good guy in the movie, you know what I’m saying? I think we all have that side to us, you know? I appreciate that. It’s very nice of you to say that I’m a likable guy. I appreciate that, my brother. That’s what makes it even better to play these kinds of roles. Because even some of our favorite villains are still likable, right? You think about the Joker, right? There are villains in movies that you’re just like, ‘Dang, I really, really like this dude, but he is the worst.’
Ramos delves deeper into the complexities of villainy, stating, “Every villain has their reasons, bro. They’ve got their reasons, whether it makes sense to you or not, and whether you agree with what they do. They’re like, ‘Well, I do this because of that…’ My favorite part about playing a bad guy is that you really get to tap into the mind of a person who is essentially doing wrong, but they have justified why they do it. To them, their reason is legit, and it’s a good reason. So, that’s been fun exploring that with not only The Hood, but these different characters that I’m playing.” This insight showcases the artistic depth that Ramos brings to his craft, portraying multifaceted characters that resonate with audiences.
Mark your calendars: Ironheart will officially premiere on June 24, 2025, exclusively on Disney+. Fans are eagerly anticipating this new chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where character development and narrative depth continue to be key themes.
