Awkward Physical Situation for Kody and Meri

Janelle Raises Concerns Over Kody’s Financial Management and Priorities

Janelle expressed her frustrations regarding the family’s ongoing struggle to settle the debts associated with Coyote Pass. She recalled Kody’s claims of having “all these other debts,” yet observed him acquiring various assets, including trailers and decorative items for their home. “I see all the art on their walls,” Janelle remarked about Robyn and Kody’s residence, indicating her mixed feelings. “I see all these things. And that’s fine; I have money and I’ve spent it on things, too.” Kody countered, explaining that a significant portion of his income was allocated toward purchasing cars—”Basically had a fleet”—and ensuring insurance coverage for the children.

While Janelle acknowledged her uncertainty regarding Kody and Robyn’s financial management, she admitted, “I used to always be surprised at how nice her backyard was. It was completely finished. And there was always, like, stuff at her house. And I was like, ‘Wow. Huh.’” This observation highlights Janelle’s growing awareness of the disparities in their lifestyle choices and spending habits, which have contributed to her feelings of neglect.

Ultimately, Janelle concluded, “He doesn’t prioritize what I need or what I want.” This ongoing issue took a toll on her emotional well-being. “I think after a while, I began to see it, and my kids were getting very angry about it, like my adult children. Like, ‘What the hell, Mom?’” This statement emphasizes the strain Kody’s financial decisions have placed on family dynamics and Janelle’s relationship with her children.

In contrast, Robyn shared her perspective, emphasizing her cautious approach to budgeting, particularly following the dissolution of her first marriage. “I used to be not so great with money,” she revealed during the Sept. 22 episode. “When I was young, I had hard knocks, and then I learned during my divorce really how to budget myself very, very well.” As for her fellow sister wives, Robyn suggested that their financial priorities simply differed: “You just must have had a different priority of where your money was going to go than I did, that’s all.” This highlights the contrasting financial philosophies within the family.
