Ezra Collective has joined forces with British-Colombian singer-songwriter Sasha Keable to release their vibrant new single titled ?Body Language?. This collaboration signifies an exciting start to 2025, showcasing their innovative sound and artistic synergy.
The new track infuses elements of cumbia music, celebrating movement, rhythm, and the rich tapestry of Latin American culture. This release follows an exceptional year for the contemporary jazz group, which saw them break into the top 10 of the Official U.K. Albums Chart for the first time with their acclaimed third LP, Dance, No One?s Watching. Additionally, they achieved a significant milestone by performing their largest headline concert at London’s OVO Wembley Arena, which has a capacity of 12,500, marking a pivotal moment in their career.
The band passionately expressed, ??Body Language? serves as a heartfelt tribute to the vibrant Latin American communities in London that continuously inspire our music and creativity.? They further elaborated, ?This collaboration with Sasha, a close friend and part of the EZ family for years, embodies our belief that the language of the body is expressed through dance, making this track a true celebration of life and culture.?
Expressing her joy, Keable shared, ?I?m thrilled to come full circle with the boys on this collaboration after touring together years ago. The timing feels perfect as we prepare to showcase ?Body Language? in Latin America, my motherland. This record is incredibly special to me on so many levels, reflecting my roots and artistic journey.?
Ezra Collective has also garnered significant recognition with four nominations for this year?s prestigious BRIT Awards, including a nomination for Album of the Year. They are also highlighted in categories such as Group of the Year, Best New Artist, and Alternative/Rock Act, underscoring their rapid rise in the music industry.
?Our nominations for the BRITs 2025 signify a celebration of our 12-year journey?from playing at small pubs for friends and family to achieving numerous special milestones along the way,? the band shared on social media following the announcement. ?We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support and encouragement we?ve received at every stage of our journey.?
The five-member group gained mainstream attention after winning the Mercury Prize in 2023 with their groundbreaking album Where I?m Meant To Be, making history as the first jazz act to achieve this honor. Since then, they have released three albums and collaborated with notable artists such as Loyle Carner, Jorja Smith, Kojey Radical, and the rising British pop sensation Olivia Dean.
Comprising drummer and bandleader Femi Koleoso, bassist TJ Koleoso, keyboardist Joe Armon-Jones, trumpeter Ife Ogunjobi, and saxophonist James Mollison, the band originated from the Tomorrow?s Warriors program in London. They have consistently emphasized the importance of accessible music education for individuals from working-class backgrounds across the U.K., advocating for inclusivity within the arts.
?You?re investing in the community and the people around you,? Femi stated regarding the band?s mission when speaking to Billboard last October. ?This ethos is at the core of what Ezra Collective represents, and I take great pride in being part of the vibrant U.K. jazz scene, which is such a beautiful and supportive community.?
