In response to Kevin Cronin’s comments about the upcoming REO Speedwagon reunion concert, Bruce Hall has shared his perspective on the matter. The highly anticipated one-off show is set to take place in June, celebrating the band’s legacy and musical journey.
After announcing their retirement from touring at the end of 2024, which stemmed from “irreconcilable differences” among the band members, including Cronin, fans were surprised to hear that six former members—Hall, Neal Doughty, Alan Gratzer, Terry Luttrell, Mike Murphy, and Steve Scorfina—would come together for a special “retrospective” concert in their hometown of Champaign, Illinois. Cronin expressed feeling “deeply disturbed and hurt” by the band’s decision to reunite without his participation, highlighting the emotional stakes involved.
According to Cronin, the date of the June 14 concert was intentionally chosen “on a date when I can’t possibly be there in-person.” Following this, Hall took to Facebook to clarify and address Cronin’s statements regarding the reunion.
Understanding the Frustration: Hall Responds to Cronin’s Concerns
“I’m happy to clarify the situation. We all (including Kevin) received an invitation to join this event back in early January,” the bassist clarified. “Kevin claims he has been ‘falsely accused’ of declining the invitation. I have not seen any statement from him indicating he turned it down, and I am aware he has been offered a chance to participate virtually. I genuinely hope he decides to join us.”
“This special event was organized to allow the original members and iconic singers of REO Speedwagon to come together for a heartfelt farewell,” Hall elaborated. He emphasized that the gathering serves as an opportunity to pay tribute to the memories of Gary Richrath and Gregg Philbin, who were significant figures in the band’s history.

“Most importantly, the proceeds from this concert will benefit the REO Speedwagon fund for rare GU Cancer Research at the Moffitt Cancer Center, a place that played a crucial role in saving my son’s life. It’s hard to comprehend how anyone can feel ‘deeply disturbed and hurt’ by this noble cause,” Hall passionately stated.
In closing, Hall shared that he and his fellow bandmates “will not be receiving any payment” for this performance. “We are genuinely excited about this fantastic opportunity to rock together one final time while also raising funds and awareness for such an important cause,” he stated, highlighting the altruistic aspect of the concert.
Cronin, meanwhile, is gearing up for a summer tour alongside Styx and Don Felder, which is set to kick off on May 28. Notably, he is scheduled to perform in Bend, Oregon, on the same day as REO Speedwagon’s reunion concert.
