BTS Members Soar to Billboard 200 Top 10 as Solo Artists
All seven members of BTS have successfully entered the top 10 of the Billboard 200 album chart as solo artists, with Jin’s latest release, Happy, debuting impressively at No. 4 in the most recent chart update dated November 30. This achievement places him alongside his BTS bandmates J-Hope, Jimin, Jung Kook, RM, Suga, and V, each of whom has also secured individual top 10 spots on this prestigious chart.
The Billboard 200 chart is a prominent music industry ranking that showcases the most popular albums in the U.S. weekly. The rankings are determined based on a multi-metric consumption model calculated by Luminate, which includes album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Specifically, one unit equals one album sale, 10 tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported streams and 1,250 paid/subscription streams of songs from an album. The updated full Nov. 30, 2024 chart will be available on Billboard‘s official website on Tuesday, November 26. This initial success marked the beginning of a remarkable journey, with BTS achieving a total of seven top 10 entries, six of which reached the coveted No. 1 spot.
The first member of BTS to achieve a top 10 position as a solo artist was RM, who made waves by reaching No. 3 on the December 31, 2022 chart with his album, Indigo. He has since made a second appearance in the top 10 with the album Right Place, Wrong Person, which climbed to No. 5 on the June 8, 2024 chart, further solidifying his status as a successful solo artist.
