Clarifies Misunderstandings Surrounding His Kauai Bunker Claims
Mark Zuckerberg has taken the opportunity to clarify that he is not in the process of constructing a doomsday ranch in beautiful Hawaii. He asserts that the rumors surrounding his 5,000-square-foot basement have been exaggerated, leading to misconceptions about his Kauai residence. This clarification aims to set the record straight regarding the nature of his property and the intentions behind it.

In a recent episode of Bloomberg’s “The Circuit”, uncut footage reveals Zuckerberg addressing last year’s WIRED report which suggested that a significant bunker exists under his Kauai estate. During the episode, he humorously attempts to demystify the situation, emphasizing that the space is nothing more than a basement, essentially a modest shelter rather than a lavish underground survival center.
The Meta CEO confidently tells ‘The Circuit’s Emily Chang that the structure is “just like a little shelter,” which he insists is being blown out of proportion. He adds that calling it a hurricane shelter or something similar is more accurate, and insists that claims of his estate being a fortified doomsday bunker are simply untrue and misleading.
As Chang struggles to hold back laughter at his comments, Zuckerberg continues to explain that the situation has been sensationalized, stating, “Whatever you want to call it, hurricane shelter or whatever. I think it got like, blown out of proportion as if the whole ranch was some kind of doomsday bunker, which is just not true.” This light-hearted approach helps to diffuse the tension surrounding the narrative.
It’s important to note that Zuckerberg’s Hawaii estate spans an impressive 1,400 acres, making a 5,000-square-foot basement quite reasonable in relation to the overall size of the property. With such vast space, there are likely numerous opportunities for recreational activities, even in the unlikely event of a zombie apocalypse!
Zuckerberg goes on to express that the primary purpose of the Kauai property is for ranching, with aspirations of producing some of the highest quality beef globally. He describes this endeavor as a fun project that he is passionate about, highlighting his commitment to sustainable agriculture and quality livestock.
Only time will tell how this project unfolds, but it certainly adds an intriguing element to Zuckerberg’s life outside the tech industry. We will keep an eye on developments regarding his Kauai ranch and any further insights he shares.
