Carlos Santana Postpones Las Vegas Residency Due to Injury
Santana has made the difficult decision to postpone its upcoming Las Vegas residency due to an unfortunate incident involving band leader Carlos Santana, who suffered a fall at his vacation home in Kauai, Hawaii. The residency was originally set to kick off on January 22 and continue through February 2 at the iconic House of Blues, located within the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. However, while these initial shows have been delayed, the concerts scheduled for May at the same venue are still on track to proceed.
In a press statement released by Santana’s management, it was explained, “I am sorry to say that Carlos was out taking a walk at his vacation home in Kauai, [and] he took a hard fall, and he broke his little finger on his left hand.” The injury required surgical intervention, as he needed pins inserted in his finger, which means that unfortunately, he will be unable to play guitar for approximately six weeks. Fortunately, doctors have assured that he will make a full recovery.
Despite this setback, Santana is reportedly in good spirits and is looking forward to returning to the stage as soon as he heals. “Carlos is doing well and is anxious to be back onstage soon. He just needs to heal,” the statement continued. Santana deeply regrets the necessity of postponing his upcoming performances but emphasizes that ensuring his health is the utmost priority. He eagerly anticipates reuniting with his devoted fans in the near future.

It is worth noting that Santana also had to postpone tour dates in 2022 after the guitarist experienced a collapse on stage during a performance in Michigan. That incident was attributed to heat exhaustion and dehydration, highlighting the physical demands of touring.
