2Baba Addresses Divorce Rumors and Clarifies Account Hacking Claims
The renowned Nigerian artist took to Instagram to announce that he and Annie Macaulay-Idibia have been living apart, stating that they have been separated “for a while now.” While he did not disclose the exact duration of their separation, he confirmed that he had “currently filed for divorce.” Furthermore, he mentioned that a formal press release would clarify the situation in detail. He expressed his motivation for this release, stating:
“…Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life, but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed my people. I love you all.”
However, after making this statement, he deleted the post and subsequently claimed that his account had been hacked, stating they were attempting to regain control. This message was also deleted, but 2Baba later released a video confirming that he had not been hacked and took full responsibility for the initial announcement regarding the divorce.
As of now, Annie has not publicly commented on 2Baba’s announcement. Her last Instagram post dates back to January 13, where she shared a teaser for the third season of the African Netflix reality series. This absence of commentary has left fans speculating about her feelings regarding the unfolding situation.
Just days earlier, on January 7, she had posted about her daughter Olivia’s birthday celebrations, which she emphasized were a request from both of her parents. Interestingly, the post did not convey any sense of impending divorce, rather focusing on family unity.
“It was our Superstar’s birthday, and she just turned 11. When daddy and I asked her what she wanted for her birthday, she could have asked for anything, but my baby requested an opportunity for us to celebrate her birthday party with children who aren’t as PRIVILEGED,” Annie shared.
Cast Members of ‘YFA’ Extend Their Support to Annie Following 2Baba’s Announcement
Throughout the previous seasons of ‘Young, Famous & African,’ there were moments that raised eyebrows about 2Baba’s commitment to Annie. However, during season three, he only appeared in phone conversations with her. By the final episode, there were no signs indicating a divorce was on the horizon. The filming did not capture his responses to the cast’s playful jabs, particularly from Zari Hassan (known as The Boss Lady), regarding long-standing infidelity rumors that have plagued their marriage.
In light of the recent developments, the cast members of the Netflix series have shown their unwavering support for Annie on social media platforms. Zari even expressed her affection, writing, “AFRICA loves you baby girl @annieidibia1” on a photo featuring her and Annie smiling together.
DJ Naked, also known as Quinton, chimed in with a heartfelt message in the comments, stating, “We love you Annie.” His fiancée, Kayleugh Schwark, also expressed her support on Instagram Stories, stating, “It’s all love,” in response to another user praising the cast for standing by Annie during this challenging time.
Khanyi Mbau Metanoia, who had a limited appearance in season three, took to Instagram Stories to reshare photos of Annie with the caption, “We got you Raz.” This gesture highlighted the camaraderie among the cast members, reinforcing their support for Annie in this trying period.
Luis Munana also shared a lighthearted video with Annie, adding a red heart emoticon in his caption, further emphasizing the warmth and friendship that exists within the cast.
