‘CHSM El Higado’ by Gerardo Coronel Hits Mexican Airplay Chart

The beginning of 2025 has proven to be an exhilarating period for the Billboard Regional Mexican Airplay chart, showcasing a dynamic landscape where five distinct artists have claimed the coveted No. 1 position at least once during the seven chart weeks completed so far this year. The most recent artist to ascend to the top is Gerardo Coronel, affectionately known as ?El Jerry,? whose hit track ?CHSM El Hígado? has surged from the second position to claim its first week at No. 1 as of the chart dated February 15. This popular song was released under Union Music, further solidifying its presence in the competitive regional Mexican music scene.

?CHSM El Hígado? has achieved the pinnacle of the Regional Mexican Airplay chart thanks to a notable 2% increase in audience impressions, translating to an impressive total of 6.5 million impressions recorded in the U.S. during the tracking week of January 31 to February 6, as reported by Luminate. This growth reflects the song’s rising popularity and the effectiveness of its promotional strategies, capturing the attention of regional music fans across the nation.

To date, four solo artists have successfully secured a lead in 2025, out of the five acts that have reached the top spot. Prior to Coronel’s ascent, Eden Mu?oz held the No. 1 position with his track ?Mi Lugar Favorito.? Released via Sony Music Latin, this song has now dropped from 1 to 2 after holding the top position for two consecutive weeks, experiencing a 10% decline in audience impressions, now totaling 6.3 million. This shift illustrates the fierce competition within the Regional Mexican genre and the ever-changing preferences of listeners.

Sony Music Latin has made significant contributions to the chart this year, with two other tracks reaching No. 1. Luis Angel ?El Flaco? dominated the charts with his song ?Amor Bonito,? which held the top position for two weeks in January. Additionally, Oscar Maydon and Fuerza Regida’s collaboration ?Tu Boda? topped the chart for one week in February. On the other hand, Universal Music Latino/UMLE made its mark with Alejandro Fernandez?s ?No Me Se Rajar,? which reigned at No. 1 for one week on the January 18-dated chart.

With the success of ?CHSM El Hígado,? Unión Music celebrates its first No. 1 hit of 2025 and its third overall in the Regional Mexican Airplay history. Gerardo Coronel previously elevated the label to the summit with his hits ?Se Buscan Borrachos,? which held the top position for two weeks in 2023, and ?Tutorial Para Olvidar,? which reigned for one week in 2024. This consistency highlights Coronel’s prominence in the genre and the label’s strength in promoting regional music talent.

In addition to his triumph on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart, Gerardo Coronel has made history by becoming the only regional Mexican solo artist to secure a position in the top five of the overall Latin Airplay chart. His track ?CHSM El Hígado? has impressively climbed from 7 to 5, garnering a remarkable 7 million impressions. This achievement underscores the song’s widespread appeal and Coronel’s growing influence in the broader Latin music industry.
