Xavier Worthy‘s fiancée recently made serious allegations in her application for a protective order against the NFL star. She has claimed that he engaged in abusive behavior, including choking and physical violence on multiple occasions, raising significant concerns about her safety.
TMZ Sports has obtained the court documents, which detail troubling accusations made by Tia Jones, who became engaged to Worthy in July 2024. In her claims, she states that the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver has physically assaulted her at least five times over the past year, indicating a disturbing pattern of behavior that raises alarm bells for her well-being.
According to the legal documents, the first instance of violence occurred in October 2024. This altercation was sparked by a disagreement regarding comments made by Worthy’s mother. Jones alleges that during this conflict, he became so enraged that he “pushed me to the ground with two fingers.” Although he reportedly apologized shortly after, the incident marks a concerning start to what Jones describes as a pattern of abusive behavior.
Weeks later, around the Christmas season, Jones claims that another violent incident occurred, where Worthy allegedly picked her up, slammed her onto a bed, and began choking her during an argument over accusations of his infidelity. This incident escalated quickly, showcasing a troubling escalation in his behavior and raising serious concerns about her safety.
“He was aware of my history of abuse in past relationships,” she stated, “which made me horrified that he would resort to such violence. I told him to never do that again.” This statement reflects her fear and disbelief that someone she trusted could behave in such a harmful manner, further emphasizing the seriousness of her allegations.
However, Jones reports that this only fueled Worthy’s anger further. She alleges that he then charged at her, throwing her to the ground during the altercation. As a result of this violent encounter, she claims to have sustained a bloody and swollen toe and eventually left his residence. Despite this, when she returned later, they ended up having a conversation, and he apologized, which unfortunately did not prevent subsequent violence.
Jones described a specific incident that occurred in one of his Kansas City residences, stating that during a disagreement, he “grew tired of what I had to say, grabbed my throat with his left hand and squeezed it, shook me, and threw my head back.” This account highlights the alarming nature of the physical confrontations she has faced, demonstrating a severe lack of respect for her well-being.
“My head jerked forward,” she recounted, “and I hit my face on the closet door, chipping my bottom tooth. It hurt really badly.” This injury not only signifies the physical impact of the altercations but also the emotional distress that accompanies such violence, showcasing her vulnerability in these situations.
In her documents, Jones detailed another incident that took place around Valentine’s Day, following another argument about his alleged cheating and his demand for her to leave their home. This pattern of conflict illustrates the instability in their relationship and the escalating tension that often leads to violence.
“He became very angry with me,” she wrote, “grabbed my throat with two fingers and squeezed, shook me, and pushed me away. He then walked away, leaving me in tears.” This moment encapsulates the emotional turmoil and fear she experienced, signaling the profound impact of his actions on her mental state.
Jones reported that the most recent physical altercation occurred on March 7, a violent encounter that ultimately led to Worthy’s arrest later that day. This incident marked a significant turning point in her experience of abuse, highlighting the urgent need for intervention.
“This was undoubtedly the most violent he has ever been,” she stated, underlining the severity of the situation and the escalating nature of his abusive behavior.
Jones, a track and field athlete, noted that the issues began in the morning when Xavier became upset with her for not giving him and his new dog enough attention the night before after her long day of training. This indicates a troubling dynamic where minor grievances escalate into serious confrontations.
She described how their argument escalated after she called him “a bitch,” which led to him flipping out. This incident demonstrates how quickly tensions can rise in their relationship and the underlying issues that may contribute to such explosive reactions.
According to Jones, Worthy then picked her up and slammed her body against the walls of their home, while shouting “get out, get the f* out.” She claims she was only able to escape by pulling his hair, highlighting the physical danger she faced during these encounters.
She noted that Worthy followed her and continued to put his hands on her, which shows a relentless pattern of aggression that she could not easily escape.
“He grabs me by my throat, lifts me off the ground, and slams me on the floor,” she recounted. This vivid account illustrates the fear and physical harm she endured during their confrontations, emphasizing the need for her to seek protection.
Jones claimed that during this altercation, she hit her head so hard that it caused her vision to go blurry. She alleged that after Worthy calmed down, she had to cancel her practice because her leg hurt so badly she was limping. This incident not only affected her physically but also interfered with her training and overall well-being.
Jones stated that Worthy was insistent on her moving out in the hours that followed, and when she thought they were going to discuss future living arrangements, he allegedly snapped again, demonstrating a volatile and unpredictable temperament.
In her legal filings, Jones recounted that Worthy threw his keys at her but missed, further illustrating his reckless behavior during these confrontations.
“Before I could turn around,” she stated, “Xavier hit me upside my head and pushed me to the ground.” This incident underscores the sudden and violent nature of his attacks, leaving her feeling vulnerable and unsafe in her own home.
Following this, Worthy allegedly took Jones’ phone, iPad, and laptop, escalating the violence even further. This act of taking her belongings reflects a deeper level of control and abuse that she was subjected to throughout their relationship.
“He follows me to the game room, and begins tossing me around, choking me and slamming me,” she detailed. “He carries me to the garage door. I remember holding onto the wall as he was pulling me, making both my feet come off the ground. He lets one of his fingers go to open the garage, then puts both of his hands around my neck from behind and chokes my neck so tight I was making choking sounds.” This harrowing account illustrates the severe physical danger she was in during this incident.
“I felt like I was going to die,” she added, reflecting the sheer terror she experienced in that moment of violence.
Seconds later, she recounted that Worthy “grabbed the part of my throat that I swallow with, like he was trying to tear it out.” He then allegedly threw her to the ground and placed his “right knee on my throat.” This kind of behavior is not only extremely violent but also deeply troubling, indicating a severe level of aggression.
“I couldn’t breathe,” she stated. “It was on there for more than 10 seconds.” This revelation highlights the life-threatening nature of the physical altercations, underscoring the urgent need for protective measures in her situation.
