It?s been almost two years since Warner Bros. made the controversial decision to shelve Coyote vs. Acme, and actor Will Forte has expressed that this situation still ?makes my blood boil.? This film, which was anticipated by many, represents not just a missed opportunity for audiences but also a reflection of the industry’s shifting priorities.

In an alternate reality, we would have already witnessed Will Forte in his role in the eagerly awaited film Coyote vs. Acme. Unfortunately, following a trend seen with other projects, Warner Bros. opted to shelve the movie in 2023, mirroring the fate of Batgirl, to take advantage of a tax write-off. This decision has left many fans and cast members disappointed. Speaking with MovieWeb, Forte candidly shared his feelings about the film?s cancellation, stating that it continues to deeply frustrate him.
?My thoughts were that it?s a f*ing bullshit,? Forte expressed passionately regarding the film’s fate. He described it as a delightful movie that genuinely deserves a proper release. ?It is such a delightful movie. It deserves so much better than what it got. I can?t tell you possibly why the decision was made to not release it, but it makes my blood boil and thank you for asking me about it because I like talking about the movie.?
Continuing his heartfelt sentiments, Forte added, ?I don?t want people to forget what they did to this [movie] ? I appreciate them letting us make it, but don?t let us make this thing that we fall in love with and then not show it. I mean, I would understand if the thing sucked, but it?s really good.? This statement highlights the passion and dedication that the cast poured into the project, underscoring the emotional connection they have with their work.
In response to the shelving of Coyote vs. Acme, a spokesperson from the Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group shared insights into the studio’s new direction. ?With the re-launch of Warner Bros. Pictures Animation in June, the studio has shifted its global strategy to focus on theatrical releases,? they stated. ?With this new direction, we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with Coyote vs. Acme. We have tremendous respect for the filmmakers, casts, and crew, and are grateful for their contributions to the film.?
The film Coyote vs. Acme features Will Forte as a down-on-his-luck attorney who takes on the iconic Wile E. Coyote as a client. Together, they aim to sue the ACME Corporation for its defective products. However, complications arise when Forte?s former boss, played by John Cena, represents ACME in court. The developing friendship between Wile E. and his lawyer adds a heartwarming layer to their quest for justice. Although the film had a private screening for the cast and crew, it seems unlikely that audiences will get to see it in the near future.
Currently, Will Forte is also making waves in his latest project, starring alongside Amy Schumer in the Netflix film Kinda Pregnant, which premiered just yesterday. His versatile performances continue to showcase his talent and commitment to entertaining audiences.
