Lou Gramm has expressed skepticism regarding the possibility of reuniting with Foreigner during their much-anticipated 2025 tour. The band recently announced an extension of their farewell trek into next year, hinting at Gramm’s potential involvement. In a recent interview with Sirius XM’s Eddie Trunk, the iconic singer shared insights into his discussions with his former bandmates and highlighted the primary obstacle that stands in the way of a reunion.

“Foreigner’s management reached out to see if I’d be interested in performing some shows with the band,” Gramm revealed. “They are planning a significant world tour, but that doesn’t resonate with me. I’d prefer not to be away for 8 to 10 months without seeing my children.” This acknowledgment underscores the personal sacrifices artists face, balancing their careers with family commitments.

While Gramm has turned down the notion of a global tour, he did express a willingness to consider a U.S. tour. However, he still harbors reservations about the arrangement and its implications for his personal life and artistic identity.

“I’m uncertain about how I feel regarding this opportunity,” Gramm admitted. “It would be far more intriguing to me if it included members from the original Foreigner lineup, supplemented by additional musicians, like another guitarist. I’m less enthusiastic about touring with a band that refers to themselves as Foreigner without those original members.” This statement reflects Gramm’s desire for authenticity and respect for the band’s legacy, reinforcing the connection between the original lineup and their iconic sound.

In discussions with management, Gramm was informed that he would be limited to performing “about five songs” each night if he were to embark on a hypothetical tour with Foreigner. “I mentioned that I’d like to sing ‘Jukebox Hero’,” Gramm recounted. “The manager replied, ‘I’m not sure about that.’ I then expressed my desire to perform ‘I Want to Know What Love Is,’ and he said, ‘I don’t think so, Lou.’ It seems he had already spoken to Kelly about which songs were off-limits.” This exchange highlights the complexities involved in maintaining a cohesive band dynamic while honoring the contributions of each member.

“Every song I proposed for the setlist was met with resistance,” Gramm lamented, sharing that he was only informed of the songs he couldn’t sing, leaving him to choose from a limited selection. When asked whether the management’s hesitations stemmed from concerns about his vocal abilities, Gramm was straightforward. “No,” he stated. “Their worries revolve around Kelly’s ego.” This candid response underscores the sensitive dynamics often present in band relationships, especially when legacy artists are involved.

“There are specific songs that are my signature tracks, and if I can’t perform them, I don’t wish to tour,” Gramm concluded. “It’s undeniably frustrating, but I don’t want it to become a source of frustration. I’ve been contemplating this for about a month since discovering that I wouldn’t be able to perform my favorite songs.
