“I believe this album is filled with exceptional songs, and I take immense pride in it,” Dorothy expressed enthusiastically.

“Scott Stevens produced the record, and I truly think he hit it out of the park,” she added, highlighting the remarkable collaboration.

Dorothy’s praise for Stevens sparked a deeper conversation about their creative partnership and her desire to continue working with him in the future.

“I genuinely wish I had the opportunity to work with him earlier, but he arrived just at the right moment toward the end of my previous album, Gifts From the Holy Ghost,” she shared candidly.

“Following that experience, we established a strong collaborative relationship, devoting significant time to crafting songs and traveling to Nashville to write alongside talented friends like Kylie Sackley and Marti Frederiksen. This is how I was introduced to Scott Stapp, leading to our collaboration on the duet ‘If These Walls Could Talk.’

Beyond their professional ties, Dorothy cherishes Stevens as a close friend.

“He’s like a big brother to me… He keeps me grounded and focused, in the best way possible.”

While Dorothy is immensely proud of the musical quality of her songs, she emphasized the profound personal significance of this album in her life.

“I believe that Jesus is the central figure in this album because he embodies the way, the truth, and the life,” she revealed with sincerity.

“I found my salvation during rehab, and I think that God not only wants me to share the gospel but also to convey the message of recovery through my music. My goal is to create music that resonates with and uplifts others.”

Dorothy mentioned that her inspiration for the album’s title came from a passage in the book of Acts in the Bible, specifically regarding Saul’s transformative journey on the road to Damascus. This powerful moment led her to realize that naming her album The Way was essential.

“The Bible states that Saul was persecuting those who belonged to ‘the way,'” she recalled, deeply moved by the connection.

“As I read those words, I felt chills running through my body and even found myself tearing up because I had been praying for guidance on how to name my album. I was asking God, ‘Please help me name my record. Jesus, take the wheel,’ echoing the sentiments of Carrie Underwood.”

Delving further into her journey, Dorothy reflected on her life before finding faith during rehab, stating that she had explored numerous paths in search of recovery.

“I was like a prodigal daughter, wandering everywhere,” she reflected. “For years, I lived a tumultuous life, and [Jesus] felt like the last resort, the final option on the block, as we often say in recovery.”
