Dylan Grant, 24, Dies After Rodeo Injury as Bull Rider

The rodeo community is deeply grieving the loss of a talented young athlete.

Tragically, professional bull rider Dylan Grant has passed away after sustaining critical injuries during the Wharton County Youth Fair Xtreme Bulls event held in Wharton, Texas, on April 3. He was just 24 years old, a promising age for any athlete.

According to his father, Wade Grant, the incident occurred when the bull Dylan was riding bucked him off violently and subsequently stepped on him. This unfortunate event highlights the inherent risks associated with professional bull riding.

Wade recounted the harrowing moment in an interview with ABC News, stating, “He got his neck stepped on.” He emphasized the urgency of the situation, explaining that Dylan immediately ran out of the arena and straight to the ambulance despite his severe injuries.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association released a statement confirming that medics swiftly transported Dylan to an ambulance, where they worked diligently to stabilize him. He was then airlifted to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center located in Houston, Texas, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

“What happened to Dylan last night was very, very, very, very rare,” his father remarked, describing it as a “freak accident.” This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of the sport.

Wade fondly characterized his son as “double tough” and “filled with kindness,” reflecting the profound impact Dylan had on those around him.

Dylan is also survived by his loving mother, Tiffany, and his brother Derek, who will cherish his memory.
