The iconic rock band had just launched into “Don’t Stop Believin’,” the fourth track of their set at the NRG Stadium in Houston, when the power was cut. Just as the song approached its first chorus, the stage power failed, prompting lead singer Arnel Pineda to engage the crowd in a spirited singalong before the band exited the stage.
According to an announcement relayed by the Houston Chronicle, an official stated, “Due to an electrical fire, the show cannot continue.” The venue’s lights were raised, indicating the end of the performance, and around 72,000 concertgoers were required to evacuate the area, leaving many feeling disappointed and concerned.
Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries stemming from this incident.

Following the abrupt end to Journey’s performance, the Houston Rodeo released a statement addressing the situation. They expressed regret, stating, “Due to an unforeseen electrical incident under the stage area, we regretfully announce the cancellation of tonight’s Journey concert. We sincerely apologize to all fans for this disappointment. Our team is working diligently to assess the situation, and we will provide updates regarding rescheduling options and/or refunds as soon as possible.”
Journey’s drummer, Deen Castronovo, also shared his thoughts on the incident via an Instagram post. He wrote, “Hey, Houston! An act of God tonight! Fire broke out underneath the stage—right under my drum riser! I was literally on fire for four and a half songs, all the power cables melted, and the show was a BUST! That doesn’t mean we won’t be back soon, because we love you all—and WE WILL RETURN! #dontstopbelievin God bless you all!” His words offered reassurance to fans eager to see the band again.
