‘Elite 8’ Teams Set for Thrilling Final Showdown!

With an exhilarating progression through two intense rounds of voting, only eight iconic ’80s classic rock albums remain in the running for your votes in the pivotal round three of our exciting March Madness bracket. This thrilling competition showcases the ultimate rock albums of the era, and your participation is crucial!

You have a limited timeframe of just three days to cast your votes for the best ’80s album in this knockout round. Below, you’ll find the results from last week’s intense voting battles, which will help you decide which albums deserve to advance to the coveted final four.

Results from Round Two:

In a decisive victory, AC/DC’s Back in Black triumphed over Phil Collins’ No Jacket Required, capturing a remarkable 84% of the votes. (Previously, in round one, Back in Black outperformed Talking Heads’ Remain in Light with an impressive score of 86% to 14%.)

Ozzy Osbourne’s album Blizzard of Ozz achieved victory against Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet, securing 56% of the vote. (In round one, Osbourne bested David Bowie’s Let’s Dance with a solid 68% to 32% margin.)

U2’s critically acclaimed The Joshua Tree emerged victorious over Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A., receiving 54% of the votes. (In the first round, Bono and his band triumphed over Iron Maiden’s Powerslave, winning 59% to 41%.)

The Police’s iconic Synchronicity defeated Tom Petty’s Full Moon Fever, garnering 53% of the votes. (Last week, Sting and his bandmates decisively beat Genesis’ Invisible Touch with a score of 73% to 27%.)

Guns N’ Roses rocked the competition, as their album Appetite for Destruction overcame Prince’s Purple Rain with a 58% vote share. (In the previous round, GNR dominated Rush’s Permanent Waves, winning by 62% to 38%.)

Journey’s beloved Escape clinched victory in the closest match yet, narrowly defeating ZZ Top’s Eliminator with a slim margin of 51% to 49%. (In round one, Steve Perry and his bandmates outperformed Peter Gabriel’s So with a convincing 64% to 36% score.)

Def Leppard’s iconic Hysteria outclassed Dire Straits’ Brothers in Arms, receiving an impressive 65% of the votes. (During round one, they defeated Billy Idol’s Rebel Yell with a score of 72% to 28%.)

Van Halen’s legendary album 1984 triumphed over Metallica’s Master of Puppets, achieving 64% of the votes. (In the prior round, David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen outperformed The Rolling Stones’ Tattoo You with a score of 79% to 21%.)

As we advance, there are three thrilling rounds remaining in Ultimate Classic Rock’s Best ’80s Album tournament:

  • Round Three: March 28-30
  • Final Four: March 31-April 3
  • Championship: April 4-7
