During this period, we drew inspiration from our early musical influences, while Bono experienced deep personal reflection as he processed the loss of his father.”

He continued, “For this anniversary edition, I delved into my personal archives searching for any lost treasures, and I hit the jackpot. We selected ten tracks that resonated with us deeply. Even though we initially set these songs aside, in retrospect, we realize our instincts about their potential for the album were spot on; we were definitely onto something significant.”

He elaborated, “What you will find on this shadow album is a raw energy of discovery, the visceral power of the music, and a sonic narrative that captures a moment in time. It’s a glimpse into the synergy and interaction of four musicians creating together in a studio setting… this is truly the pure essence of U2.”

This shadow album features new, never-before-heard tracks as well as songs that have never been officially released, including “Treason,” “Evidence of Life,” “Country Mile,” and “Happiness.” Additionally, there’s a track titled “Luckiest Man In The World,” known to fans by its earlier working title, “Mercy.” An early demo of this song was leaked nearly two decades ago, and now it’s finally receiving its official release.
