In this exciting episode of Gear Factor, the vibrant and highly entertaining streamer SunfyreTV showcases her favorite drum parts that highlight her unique style and musical flair. Her dynamic performances have made a significant impact across social media platforms, captivating audiences with her energetic presence.
Chances are, you’ve likely stumbled upon viral video clips of Sunfyre as she brings an eclectic mix of talents to the stage. From her hilarious impressions of Toad from Nintendo’s iconic Super Mario Bros. franchise to her impressive ability to blend blast beats and Latin rhythms while channeling the essence of dance-pop superstar Shakira, she is a versatile drummer with a rich skill set that keeps fans coming back for more.
Staying true to the Gear Factor tradition, Sunfyre shares her earliest influences and the inspirations that shaped her journey behind the drum kit. Growing up in Brazil, she discovered the world of rock, metal, and punk music through the transformative power of MTV Music. It was the song “Dammit” by Blink-182 that ignited her initial passion for drumming, as she would choreograph the music video with her friends, practicing air drumming to the classic track from the album Dude Ranch.
After acquiring her very first drum kit, one of the initial beats she learned was the straightforward backing track to the hit song “The Reason” by Hoobastank. Reflecting on her early experiences, she emphasizes, “I always tell people to this day you’ve got to start with ‘The Reason’ by Hoobastank because that’s the most basic you can get. You want to start with that four-count basic beat. I’m not a teacher, but if I were to be a teacher, I’d just tell them to learn ‘The Reason’ first,” she shares with enthusiasm.

Since her humble beginnings with that foundational song, Sunfyre has significantly elevated her drumming skills. In this episode, she reveals her favorite drum fills and intros from legendary drummers such as Mike Portnoy and Joey Jordison. Although she encourages aspiring drummers to focus on enjoying the music and not stressing over every little nuance, Sunfyre passionately strives to capture the essence of iconic songs, particularly those by Rush and Dream Theater.
Reflecting on the late Slipknot drummer Jordison, she expresses how the speed of his fills drew her into the world of the iconic masked metal band. “Every time I play Slipknot I’m just drenched. It’s a freakin’ workout,” she exclaims after performing some of Jordison’s most challenging parts, highlighting the physical demands of playing such intense music.
Additionally, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to invite Sunfyre onto Gear Factor without making one special request — to perform some epic drum parts while channeling her best Toad voice! Did she deliver on that? You bet she did!
